@Kittensposies lace isn't as difficult as you think. You just need to outsmart it and compensate for the open bits. Wash away stabilizer is very useful with lace. 

And take your time. Lace doesn't like to be rushed.

I’d add that lace also needs careful planning, the more open it is, the more you have to think about seam finishes, etc. Here I have decided to finish the shoulders, pocket bags and side seams as French seams. Had my lining fabric be less thick, I would have done Hong Kong finishes.
When you underline lace, it’s a different story alltogether.

No zip, it fits just over my head - I measured it very carefully
