Hi. I wandered over here from Pattern Review, having heard on that forum what a nice place this one is. Thank you for having me.
It's just fabric. We can out-think it.

Thank you both. I'm sure I will be happy here. All these folks who sew- what's not to like?

You do have a reputation, Ohsewsimple, and it is a good one. I see all sorts of folks here from over at PR. Hi, Helen!

What do I sew? My business includes doing historical re-enactments, so I make a fair number of costumes. Used to make costumes for Middle Eastern dance as well, but I retired from dance eighteen months ago and no longer need those costumes. Sold the lot and most of the dance fabric stash as well. Ordinary day-to-day clothing and home decor items are on my sewing list. I've done some quilting, though it is not my favorite activity and I passed most of the quilting fabric onto friends who quilt. I do a fair amount of fiber-related artwork, incorporating everything from plain sewing to embellished fabric collage. I weave. I embroider. That about covers it. I don't mind making buttonholes but zippers scare me even after half a century of sewing. Maybe someday I'll be able to face all those zipper teeth without gnashing my own.
It's just fabric. We can out-think it.

Welcome @BriarRose
One of my hobbies is Middle Eastern dancing, and we perform Bollywood too. I gave it up for a couple of years when unwell but missed it very much and went back about 6 months ago. I've only made a few costume bits and pieces but there are always repairs to do!

Welcome @BriarRose, from a fellow American! I'm in the upper midwest now, but I did live in the Rockies for 6yrs- or at least in the shadow of them.

Thank you all for the nice welcome. I feel all warm and fuzzy now.

Congratulations on returning to dance, FloBear. Over four decades, I retired from dance at least four times. I suspect this retirement will stick since the joints just ain't what they usta be.  ;)
