I've finished my dress - In the Folds Rushcutter Dress - which I've turned into a coat  :)

I made it up as normal, omitting the zip in the back then sliced it up the front, bias bound the edges, et voilà.

The fabric is a beautifully drapey viscose purchased last year with the intention of entering the Florals comp but couldn't decide what to use it for. The bias binding is from a pillowcase.

Lovely fabric, but the shape would make me look like a brick built outhouse.

Very nice indeed.  The contrast of the busy fabric with the simple design is lovely, particularly the neckline.

I love summer but often feel that clothes are more boring than other seasons as fewer of them are needed, especially coats and jackets.  This gives you all the swoosh of a coat but without the normal weight.  I think you've given me an idea!

How interesting - I think the opposite! There are so many beautiful, curve hiding, well cut summer dresses around with lovely summer shoes. So many beautiful colours and prints as well. Winter... is boring and plain in comparison with big, heavy clunky clothes...
