Could you consider silk organza  bias strips for your armholes?

@Catllar, that would require topstitching, which is almost impossible at the crochet lace and looks ugly either way - cream or blue. I may have to do facings...  -<

In hindsight, I should have done an all-in-one facing...

Could you use a soft fabric for the binding, turn, understitch and then hand finish?   I think that’s what I’d do.  Also wondering if it would be possible to trim back some of the crochet from the seam allowance.

Hand finish would be invisible, I agree with OSS.

@Ohsewsimple and @Catllar, I know, this is what I had to do with the neckhole facing.... more hand stitching it is....

ETA: I’ll see if binding with the chambray works, if not I’ll do a facing (it’s flatter than a bias strip turned, the crochet bits of the fabric are quite chunky) and catch stitch it onto the underlining by hand. Not sure I’ll get around doing anything about it before next weekend.

I went with armhole facings and catch-stitched them onto the underlining. Let’s see how far I come putting the skirt on over the weekend ...

I’m done and very happy with the dress. Now I have to decide whether to do a pink one or a white one next.... there will be a few more in eyelet cotton looking slightly different

Nice result.  You have great vision as regards the fabric.  I know lots of people cant always see beyond what is in front of them.  And sometimes a fabric can look very odd or even downright naff.  You just have to look past that and see how best it can be used.   I’ve only been lucky a few times with this.

Absolutely beautiful Manuela as othesr have said you have the ability to see something that perhaps others do not, and can thus turn a piece of elaborate fabric into a stunning dress - well done.  Will be interesting to see what other variations you come up with.  By the way the facing of the neck and armholes on this latest one is absolutely fine and looks so neat.  I also liked the binding versions you did on the other two lace dresses - you will be the best dress lady in both Hong Kong and in Thailand.
