Welcome to the Look What I Did With My Scraps contest.
This can be anything from garments, soft furnishings, accessories to quilts - be creative. Dark siders are very welcome  :drink:
However, no matter how big your scraps are, they should be leftovers from a previous project.

And, of course there are a few rules:

1. Please post a picture of you pile (or piles ) of scraps before you start and/or include it in your submission post
2. You can have more than one entry, just submit them in separate posts
3. Sewing starts on April 1st and ends on April 30th - you can plan and prepare before the starting date
4. Please put your submission post with pictures up here by May 7th and use the template below:

(your name)'s Entry (indicate the number if you have more than one entry)

What is it and for whom

Pattern used (commercial or self-drafted, anything goes)

What scraps/leftover fabrics did you use (pictures welcome)

A short description on how you made it/problems overcome/etc.

Pictures included in the text please

Sources tell me that some of you are basically drowning in scraps :fabric: so let's do something about it  :snip:

Haha! Spoken like a true Darksider. You see @Manuela here in the Darkside a quilt top, or flimsy they're sometimes called, is a separate finished thing. We have tops as well as complete quilts. And lots of UFO's and WIPS.  ;)
Hey Bill! Read the manual!  Hehehe.

Darn it! Last night I cut a load of cotton lawn into squares for reusable wipes. This morning cut a towel up & overlocked to make reusable baby wipes. Hooked out scraps for mask.making, will that count?

I've got some navy fleece that I can make a hat, glove, scarf set for next winter.

@wrenkins, we had this question last time - and BrendaP’s patchwork skirt as an example. She used scraps for the visible part of the skirt and underlined it with something else.
So, the visible parts of your project should be made from scarps/leftover fabrics, non- visible or ‘supporting’ parts don’t need to.

@wrenkins , you could use your veh veh small skwaps to make new fabric by stitching them onto a solid piece of backing fabric, from which you could make your table placemats.

@Catllar I've discovered crumb quilting so that's exactly what I'm going to do.  :) Some of the pieces are a bit bigger due to stupidity mis-cutting so I'll work around those I think. The backing and wadding can't be scraps but they won't count if I submit for the contest as they won't be seen. Big IF right there. Can I get my ass in gear. I have photographed my bag of scraps so that's a start!  0_0

Ooh, ooh, @wrenkins I've just looked at crumb quilting and am now dying to have a go planning to do some housework and try it out later <nose-growing-longer-smiley>

Eta The vacuum cleaner is out but unused, the sun is shining on the dust on the mantelpiece, I have a small heap of 'crumbs' in twos, soon to go into fours !

I would very much like to participate in this, just thinking what sort of scraps.

(You'd think I'd have loads of time to sew, but I work from home all day, spend half the evening on the phone staying in touch with everyone, I do get some sewing time but its not endless!)

I am considering 3 main options, but will only construct one of them.

1. Cotton skirt with a large number of narrow panels
2. Knit top pieced from lots of jersey scraps
3. Kimono Jacket made from home dec scraps

I have a couple of days to think about which one excites me the most.

This is my little effort from today. Most of the bits are quite small. I made a few minor boo-boos but the teapot won't mind  ;) It's only half a tea-cosy as I don't have enough scraps in the right colours to make the other half. I will do some sort of block that won't mind being rectangular for the other half.

I've put the wadding and backing fabric on and quilted the sandwich. Mr Bear looked at it and asked, How do you get the teapot in  :S

I like the randomness of it. You can see the tumbler of wine which helped with that  ;)

@wrenkins, we had this question last time - and BrendaP’s patchwork skirt as an example. She used scraps for the visible part of the skirt and underlined it with something else.
The "something else" was the back of a duvet cover donated by DD.  She had used the front of the cover for yet another something else. >:)

Silly question but how big is a scrap? I have lots of odd pieces left over from other things but they are about 1/2 metre. Can I use them as they are or do they need to be smaller?
It's not easy being this perfekt

I think we had this question last time.

A scrap for patchwork is very much smaller than a scrap for clothesmaking purposes.  My suggestion would be about a fat eighth or half a FQ for darkside stuff and less than a metre for other things.
