I'm battling temptation. Morgan, if you're buying one of these for your club, you must feel it's a good deal and a decent machine. Although at the moment I get by well enough (mostly!) with the overlocker and a twin needle on the sewing machine, a coverstitch machine would give a better finish - once I've got the hang of it!

Are they difficult to master?

I've heard they are easier to pick up than O/Ls

That's good to hear. I've found the relevant review thread on here now and had a read. The coverhem would be useful, but at £359 it's more expensive than my 'proper' machine.
I'll go away and battle with my conscience.  v.

It's straight forward to follow the instructions and after that it's about practising to get the feel of the machine.

However, like any machine, the real issue is to make an effort to learn enough about how to get things right when they don't go to plan.

There are two main issues with using any coverstitch machine-
- managing to keep the long foot level so that it stitches properly over seam allowance bumps and lumps

and

the technique for releasing the and pulling through the threads at the end of a run

Several tutorials around.

Thanks for the pointers, Morgan.  I probably won't be going ahead though.    has won!

That's a really good price, if I hadn't got one already I think the plastic would fly.
