Hi All - I have a lovely vintage Bernina 700, but the bobbin winder doesn't turn the bobbin.

Anyone had any experience with this model can offer any suggestions please?

It's this model

I have a 707 where the bobbin winder is on the top of the machine. When I had it serviced last year, Bambers replaced the bobbin winder as the rubber was perishing resulting in poor contact. Are you able open up your machine and see what the state of the bobbin winder looks like?

This isn't in the same place, and although it does have a rubber washer it's not clear to me what size it should be.
I don't have (and can't find) a manual for this model.

I will hope to contact Bamber when they're open again, thank you  :)

Oh - huge confession of foolishness!

I had re-assembled the handwheel back to front (if you have one of these you'll see what I mean) so the little rubber wheel (which is on the front (inside) of these models not on the top) was no longer marrying up with the toothed inner wheel face.   :|

A fresh pair of eyes, and it's sorted!   :toast:

Lovely machine LOL
