Welcome to our annual Florals Rule contest. It was a huge success for the last two years, who doesn’t like a bit of florals for spring and summer.

So, here are the rules

1. You shall make a minimum of one garment - it can be anything, top, dress, skirt, jumpsuit, trousers....
2. If you want to make more than one entry, feel free to do so, but submit them in separate posts
3. Please clearly indicate what pattern you used and what, if any, changes you made
4. You don't need to use a commercial pattern, self drafted is fine
5. Sewing starts on May 1st, you can prepare & fit the pattern and cut before that date
6. Sewing finishes on May 31st, please post pictures by June 7th
7. Please use the template below when you submit your entry post

This was the contest that I was minded to enter, but alas my sewing room looks like this

and is likely to remain so well after the closing date.

I've got some great florals on a navy background which I am just itching to use for this contest.
I just need to decide which to pick and what to do, oh what fun!

I thought of something to make for this about a month ago, now I haven't a clue what it was........ Did I write it down on my scrap note pad along with pattern numbers that take my fancy? Must try and decipher my scrawls!

I think I can enter this one! I bought a piece of cotton sateen last year to copy a blazer I'd seen, and haven't got around to it. It'll be perfect for this, especially as I don't often wear florals and don't think I even have another piece of floral fabric in my stash  -<
At least, I think I can claim it's a large-scale, stylised floral... what does everyone else think? I think they're supposed to be pansies.

Pattern is Burda 6465 since that has gone together so nicely for my Chanel jacket. Like that one, I'll modify it to close with a CF zipper and I'm rather thinking 2 single welt pockets might be nice (anything but patch pockets, hate the things!)
For the lining I'll probably just go for plain black. As the sateen has slight stretch to it I'm limited in what stretch linings I have (trying to only use stash fabrics this year!!)

This one I am definitely in on as I have today just taken delivery of some black and white floral fabric for vogue 9237 which I picked up from a charity shop for £1 last year but not made yet. I will delay my start until 1/5

@sewmuchmore, I loooooooove Vogue 9237, it’s very high on my ‘to do’ list - I will amend the Bella pattern that’s already fitted for it though...

@sewmuchmore, I edited your post to insert the picture in the text... Now that I can see the flowers, the answer is: yes, definitely - flowery skulls...

What lovely flowered fabrics everyone has!  :flower: :flower: :flower:... I am so tempted to join in, though I have no exciting ideas for what to make. I may try and make a blouse, as I have some multicolor/teal cotton that is in sort of a Liberty style print, and I might have some rayon that is vaguely floral, for a popover summer top.  Once I finish sewing the huge batch of masks that I promised to other people, I want to sew something spring-like for myself, just for fun

My DIL has just made someone a dress from this. We had fun measuring out how to get panels from the piece of fabric without spoiling the border ( prior to lockdown )  Must ask her how it turned out.
