Singer 201k foot pedal heating up!

Singer 201k foot pedal heating up!

Can someone advise me please?  The foot pedal is getting extremely hot!  I am having to unplug the machine after 10 minutes of use.  Could I get a modern pedal to replace this one? I don't know what to do  :( :vintage:

Brenda.  My machines are: Corona, a 1953 Singer 201K-3, Caroline, a 1940 Singer 201K-3, Thirza, 1949 Singer 221K, Azilia, 1957 Singer 201K-MK2 and Vera, a Husqvarna 350 SewEasy about 20 years old. Also Bernina 1150 overlocker and Elna 444 Coverstitcher.

Happened to my mom's in the 80s.  Replaced it with a then modern one, works fine.

I replace pedals for older machines with newer ones all the time.  Works just fine if they are meant for the machine.
