Well it looks like my S&M Fetish costume business won't be taking off  :P. Miss Uten doesn't like leather. In fact she plain refuses to go through 2 layers of fairly soft and thin leather. Oh well.

Hey Bill! Read the manual!  Hehehe.

Erm...nope. It's on my wish list. But I seriously doubt it'll make much difference. This machine has all the power of a hamster fart.

Hamsters get no respect.

Usually a leather needle does make a difference. They are really sharp and bladed so they can cut through. If by chance you had a ballpoint needle in the machine..... nope.

My leather needles arrived today. I stand corrected.  :D

How does it sew with the leather needles?

Hopefully you'll end up with holes that look like / / / / rather than • • • • and with stitches that look like \/\/\/\/  rather than

It's better. Not by a huge amount but it'll now go through some leathers which it didn't before.
I've some alligator skin look leather which is soft and about 1mm thick. Previously I could get through 2 layers of that. The new 80/12 leather needle punched through 5 layers before getting stuck.
The green leather you gave me I couldn't even get through 1 layer previously. 2 seems to be its limit, having to use speed to slice through.

The stitches are still very._._._.shaped. Schmetz made.

Going through 80/12, 90/14 & 100/16.

I sewed the first line twice by accident.

The 100/16 definitely have a more pronounced slant.

Leather is such a challenge to sew. Ideally, you'd use a slow speed, but as you've discovered that doesn't always provide enough punching power.  >:)
