I need just a little more room in the front of Butterick 6667..do you think I can just add a little to both sides of this seam

That will affect the button spacing I think. It looks like they have carefully designed it so all the buttons line up with the seams. Won't you have to change the diagonal seam so it meets the waist seam as well?

I was thinking of tapering it at both ends... just adding about half an inch in the middle

I don't mean to be indelicate but isn't that a bit low down? Could you slash from the shoulder through that diagonal seam instead?

That horizontal seam isn’t on the waist..it’s halfway between the waist and bust. Think this may take some thinking about.

I think you would need to adjust the lateral seam extending from the second button to the base of armscye as well. That's where the extra fullness will be needed. My guide to FBAs is 'Fit for Real People' which I bought years ago on a recommendation from the old TSF. That said, on checking on Amazon just now, it's gone stupid expensive!

@Elnnina you more than most know my expertise in the FBA department but I would tend to think open the horizontal one because it's length you need really but keep the ends or you'll run into button snags again? Maybe? :[

I agree with @SkoutSews  and @wrenkins  it's the horizontal seam from the second button which needs adding to to give more room in the bust area.  If you taper the additional bit from both ends it won't interfere with the button placements or the armscy/sleeves.

That is what I would do too. If you have a dress form, copy the two top pattern sections, cut them  both vertically in line with the bust point and add extra paper.then try it on and see if it works. You can try it on yourself but it is not so easy to check unless you have a helper.

The line drawing is deceptive..that line crosses over the bust, I’ve added 1cm to each seam allowance tapering it at both ends...it done the job...but other adjustments needed.
Forward shoulder, high back, reduce depth of collar, add to height of back sleeve ...
Sometimes you wonder if it’s worth it!
