I have finished my 9 blocks....20.5" square and have decided to put them together QAYG so that I can more confidently quilt on each block. Each block comprises of a different layout incorporating flying geese, blades and 1/4 circles.I can't get out and buy my backing fabric as the LQS is closed but may give in and call in to the local big box Haby store on my way home from work next week. The pic doesn't do the block justice as the different creams and beiges don't really show up very nicely but I am thrilled with them "in the flesh" and looking forward to trying QAYG.

Oh no @Lisalou1965 ....good heavens no! Foundation paper piecing makes everything easy peasy.

That looks nice, I like the way it almost looks embossed where you can, I presume, see the seam allowances through it, that's a great effect.

Slowly, slowly it goes. I have finished piecing my 9 papyrus blocks; have been hindered hugely by some old RSI flaring and stopping me working, sewing, pulling my socks on...you know...blooming everything!
I have quilted 4 blocks now and decided to do mainly SITD with a bit of dense quilting in the centre circles and segment continuation out into the borders. My colours are so muted that any amount of pattern quilting within the blocks just made all the different subtle shades of the fabrics disappear so hence the SITD.
Once they're all done then it is on to my first effort of QAYG. But given my hand problems I doubt it will all be finished any time soon.
it's hard to get a nice shot of these fabrics, my phone camera tends to wash them out :'(
