SO I bought this - stretch cotton sateen and I love the print - but have no real idea what to make with it to really show it off. Any ideas? There are in fact 2 print panels.

I was going to say the neck might come in a bit when it is bound but I don't think that will be anywhere near enough - you little minx you! Mine was the same ( jersey linen fabric) and I "fixed" it by shoving a pleat into the neckline off to one side to further exaggerate the wonkiness of the whole thing. Not my favourite, but wearable.

Manuela it's the collar that does the job there, isn't it ? That and the gorgeously dramatic fabric. Simple dress shape needs nothing else!

« on: June 11, 2017, 20:04:11 PM »I bought some beautiful pure white-on-white striped stretch cotton, which arrived a tad too late to sew it up for the White challenge. I put it to one side and sulked lightly...
Today, I had an email saying I'd had a partial refund of postage charges from the seller, and I went to look again at the fabric...because I'd said to the missus there wasn't enough for a long sleeved shirt BUT the eBay details reminded me I'd ordered THREE METRES.
I measured it. 110cm. TWENTY ONE QUID PEOPLE! I probably would not have noticed, or not for some time! I messaged the guy, he's sending me more. What is it with my sewing luck right now? Which sewing gods have I offended? Have I not shed enough blood to the seam ripper and sewing needles?
Clearly not m'dear! In fairness he should send you 3 new whole metres so you recover from the trauma of short shipment ( which can be very painful!)

Manuela are you very tall?? That funnel neck would drown me and I'm 165, so I am guessing you must be tall and stately! The fabric is lovely.
Susan, I feel your pain - I too should stop now when it all starts to head south. Got a flamenco skirt on the go at the minute - designing as I go due to lack of fabric, carried on too long and mis-cut a skirt piece, could not afford to lose this fabric. Much bad language
, then I stopped and got in the pool to cool off! No wine as I'm trying to detox for a few days. Had a chilled rooibos with orange juice and then some aw broccoli and hummus -not the same though!

It's the humidity that's the killer, isn't it? Today we're expected to pass 35 but there is a bit of a breeze so less humid. 
Got a shindig in the village tonight - mussels cookout and bbq with music and dancing. Should be fun. Might wear this as won't show the splashes! On the other hand, won't do much to stop the midges biting after dark!
