If you do use the twin needle it can help to put some wash-away interfacing underneath the hem as you sew it - it makes it lie flatter.

Do you have a twin needle?  That is going to give the best result.

I'm imagining to results if Youngest got his hands on that lot  :scream:

It looked much warmer outside than it really was this morning!

I think @Bodgeitandscarper is the real arbiter of the weather clothes-wise.  If she isn't wearing shorts yet, it is definitely too cold.  If she is, you might want to wait a few weeks before showing your knees!

That's a good idea - if they wash out when they get onto clothes accidentally they must surely wash out when used deliberately!

I'm tempted to do some experimentation there  ::thinks:: - if they turn out to be no good I'm sure my goddaughters would be happy to take them off my hands (although I might not tell their mother that they don't actually wash out...  )

I don't know what I'd do without water soluble pens - I use them for garment making and quilting, and I've often thought that they're one of many reasons why I'd be no good on Sewing Bee!  My items definitely need to be washed by the time I've finished!

I did once draw all over a present I was making for my Mum, only to realise that I hadn't picked up my soluble pen, but a normal felt tip...  :scream: ... astonishingly I managed to wash it out.  I'm still not sure how.

Hi, I'm new... / Re: Where to post a sewing log?

There's a whole section called 'Members' Diaries'!  There's a separate section of diaries for quilters, but anything can go in the main diaries anyway.

Yes - I converted an old aran jumper pattern so that I could make it on a circular needle.  I was more than two thirds of the way up the body - at the armpits I think - when I realised that the ribbing was lying diagonally.

@Tamnymore I always have my hair tied up in a ponytail (high up to keep my neck cool) at night, so I'm expecting to have to find a way of making the two work together!!  I'm sure there will be a way...

@twopence I sleep on my front and side, so a scarf would have to be fixed in place somehow.

I've repaired a pair of trousers for Mr Acorn, and almost made an eyemask for myself - if I get up in the night and it has started getting light I can't get back to sleep, so I'm going to give a mask a try.  I bet it doesn't stay on, or it annoys me too much though.
