I’ve downloaded the McFly Backpack from Allsewpetite.com - https://allsewpetite.com/product/mcfly-mini-mcfly-backpack-pattern/

There are also video tutorials to explain each step, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to do it justice. I have been online shopping today for everything I need (and a lot of stuff I didn’t  0_0).   Am hoping to be able to adjust the straps so I can easily take it on and off my chair

Flamingo Fabrics has some wonderful waterproof fabrics here.   :thumb:

They really are lovely. I was thinking plain, but now I love a lot of these!  Decisions decisions  :loveit:

Yes - someone on here ( @Ploshkin ?) calls it 'sewing in the teacup'.

I like the sound of that!  :drink:

@Ohsewsimple thank you, that’s very helpful. I keep being drawn to the Jaguar overlockers.

I’m mostly housebound so getting out is difficult under normal circumstances. We’re in Tier 4 so almost impossible now

Sewing Machines / Re: Any way to cancel automatic locking stitch?
« on: November 18, 2020, 11:29:11 AM »
I spoke to Sam at Janome Customer Service this morning and she advised that there isn't a way to turn off the lock stitch at the beginning of the zig zag stitch  :(  They are set like that, but you do have the option to lock or reverse stitch at the end!

Not the answer we were looking for, but it's an answer

I think starting the stitch on a scrap piece of fabric suggested earlier in this thread is going to be the best solution for me to avoid this.  Just have to remember before I hit the pedal!

@Vezelay I have been scouring my Instruction manual for my Janome (5270QDC) this week as I noticed that mine is annoyingly doing the same on zigzag stitch. If you get a response from Janome please let us know!  I’m in the U.K. so if I am able I will call them and let you know if I get any closer to a solution x

That’s a great idea. In fact, my OH just said why don’t you make a cover to go over the whole thing and put the rigid cover away. He’s got a lot of confidence in me!  I think a tea towel is a great starting point
