In the wardrobe / 3 year ufo finished chanel style jacket and linton tweed
« on: November 04, 2017, 11:33:35 AM »
It's done.   Other well-done by any means but wearable.

Based on vogue 8075 and using linton tweed on ivory with silver thread - not the yellow phone wants to picture it in

I have no idea what possessed me to think this was a good idea or why I thought I wanted an ivory jacket.   I have no idea when I am going to wear it and I certainly won't be wearing it often as it's going to pick up every piece of dirt and I  not convinced that I have done enough to stop it fraying inside.

Bit it's Done.

Years ago m made a patchwork cushion out of charity shop Ties, using the wrong side of some of them to get a bit of texture.

Fun with Fabric / Re: Quilting Cotton to Make a Dress?
« on: July 31, 2017, 10:50:23 AM »
I have successfully made a dress out of quilting/patchwork cotton, but it was quite a structured skirt and bodice.

I would pre-wash the fabric thoroughly first though as it has quite a high rate of shrinkage.

Picture of the sleeve.  This is quite a flared sleeve uses a little of fabric for a quite short sleeve.

And here making it look like i am a demon machinist is the neckline.

These are the pattern pieces for my top. As it's only got one facing it is simple to sew.  The self facing of the cowl neck is attached to the back facing at the shoulders.

She is a lucky little lady.

Be careful  - she will be putting in orders for outfits with her own choice of embroidery on them!

Your Favourite Suppliers / Re: Goldhawk Road

There was quite a queue for the logo store on Saturday afternoon so might want to get there early.

Dare I point out that the lego store to Berwick  Street is only a short walk  - worth visiting for a brief drool.

My most precious piece of fabric is good but I think even longer than six weeks would be needed.

I can't see me joining in with a sew the same thing comp as I don't have time to sew what I want to do as it is.

How about finishing your unfinished objects.

And is one of the seams.  Can't think of anything else to show you.  Pictures of large bits of  black fabric will get a bit  boring.

Earlier I thought I might have produced the first  wadder of the competition.  However has persevered and think I will end up with jus to a skirt that is shorter than I wanted that has too gathering the the waist.

Used ... 1.5m.

Black crinkle silk  bought from Truro Fabrics two years ago with the intention of using it as a first version of a bridesmaids dress before I made myself the final version.

Lining from same source and time.  Have thread and interfacing in the stash.

Have cut for a below knee length quite full skirt with a elasticated waist which I hope to get finished before going on holiday next week.

1.5m.  This is darker than in the photo.  It is what I can only describe as brushed silk in a deep reddish brown.   Bought I Beijing 23 years ago with the intention of making an interview dress.

I have thread in my thread stash that matches it too.

Have cut it out from a self drafted cowl neck-top pattern.

Can everyone put a nice big bold metre count when they finish a piece so it's easier for me to spot amongst the thread? I'm doing stats... Did you hear that stat lovers?!

I love stats too.  Does that mean we are being judged on how much fabric we put to good use?

I too changed my mind.  I have six metres in total of gorgeou silk that I bought in India probably 20 years ago.  Two different shades of turquoise.  Was lying in bed last night thinking about what to do with it.

Have now given myself a firm talking too and will stick to my original plan.
