Thanks everyone for your ideas.  I’m going to have to put all sewing activities on hold for the short term as my father was rushed into hospital on Tuesday and trying to support both him and my mum is taking every last bit of energy I have  :(

I’m still really keen to do it myself, but if health and time doesn’t allow, maybe I could ask for some help with part of it, so @Ohsewsimple your suggestion maybe a great idea.  When my brain is functioning a little better I’ll try to find out who I maybe approach locally.

Stay safe everyone x

So my OH collected my New Home from the sewing doctor who has given it a clean bill of health and a 6 month warranty for £55.  Very impressed

OH thinks it’s going on eBay to help pay towards it’s replacement.  Now time to come up with reasons why that’s not a good idea!

Thank you, I will take another look.

Hi Everyone,

I’d like to make a present for my BFF who is getting married next month

Thanks everyone for your help.  My New Home has gone to a local repair man for a little TLC and my ever patient, and now definitely the best husband ever :loveit:, bought me the new Janome 5270QDC.  Think he’s slowly realising he’s not the only love in my life now

Sooo excited, OH bought me the Janome 5270 QDC.  Didn’t know it was possible to be in love with an inanimate object!

@BrendaP Thank you. I guessed the Q, but would have been stumped on the P!

@Helen M I’ve been experimenting with making things like masks, simple zipped bags, cushion covers, etc. I’ve completed my first item of clothing, a pair of PJ bottoms, which I was very proud of!  I envisage sewing more clothes and items for our home.  It’s hard to know what I may need in the future

Thank you Helen.  Your thoughts are very helpful and I’ll check out the needle position. I’m relatively new to sewing so knowing what to look out for is great advice

Thanks everyone for taking the time to help. I’ve been using mostly straight stitch and zigzag and Susan (yes I name everything!!) appears to have been quite happy.  Until I decided to get a little adventurous and try a stretch stitch

Sewing Machines / Anyone using Janome DKS100 / DC7100?

Hi Everyone

Been out of action for a while. It’s nice to be back as I missed you

A friend recently purchased a Janome DC7100 which I understand to be the John Lewis special edition of the DKS100.

Does anyone have any experience of this machine and if so, would you recommend it for general sewing?

Thanks x
