Had a look through my patterns and am still in two minds on the route to take.

I could go for a short jacket in the tweed alone,
Simplicity 4635

or NewLook 6516

Or something more coat style like Simplicity 4427 mixing the different fabric Desigual style

Hello, I've only made jeans for myself from a company that only does women's patterns, so not loads of help.
However here are my thoughts:-

I made 2 pairs to tweak the fit, before I made the ones I wear all the time, so don't cut into your nice denim first off, perfect the pattern first.
Be a bit careful with what denim you buy, I have some stretch and some non stretch and you can't use the same pattern for both.
If you do have 2 machines its nice to set one up with the matching thread and one with the contrast thread so you don't have to keep rethreading.
Topstitching thread can be very difficult to work with, so I just use normal thread in a contrast colour.

Here's the tweed boucle (centre) with some co-ordinating remnants. I'm planning something a bit Joe Browns.

@WendyW I think the bag is lovely. Well done for getting it done even though you didn't enjoy the fabric.

Hello folks, how are your Viva Magenta projects coming along?

Do I have a change from my teal items and try something different.....

I know I started the topic, but having thought about it some more, I don't think a classic Chanel style jacket works with my personal style, so I probably won't make one.
I will use the tweed/boucle fabric, but in with another fabric to get something a bit more Joe Browns - ie mixed fabrics and more casual.

That's a good pattern @Greybird, and your end result is wonderful.

@Missie, I suspect I will chicken out and do a quicker method, but if its a project that would bring you joy and purpose then why not :-)

Its nearly the end of the month, how is the WIPGO going?

I have been working on my shirt, though my mystery fabric is almost certainly polyester.
I did a version of tower plackets on it yesterday and they are not the best, but at least they are done.
Just buttonholes, buttons and hem and my shirt will be done.

I don't think I love the fabric enough to spend all that time on it, but as little tweed jackets do seem to be in this year I'll have a go at knocking my own version up using simpler methods.
I'm sure I can dig out a little jacket pattern from the stash - Prima has done several I'm sure.

its lovely @Greybird, what methods did you use?

In the Craftsy class, Lorna Knight hand stitches silk organza strips round all the edges, then quilts the  pieces, sews the main seams on the machine then hand stitches the lining to the jacket.

I've not got to pockets or trim yet in the class.

I have a piece of tweed fabric I didn't sell, but its only 1.4 metres so a simple jacket is all I can do in my size (18). I've prewashed it so maybe it was 1.5 metres to start with!

Anyone here ever made a Chanel Style jacket?

I've been watching Lorna Knight's "The Iconic Tweed Jacket" on Craftsy.

Thinking I 'could' do that but would I want to? I have a piece of tweedy fabric, but might do speed tailoring instead!

My shirt now has sleeves with cuffs and my first ever tower plackets.
Still needs buttonholes, buttons and a hem and then it'll be done....
