Title: Next Saturdays (6th July) Workshop / Invite to meet up.
Post by: Iminei on June 30, 2019, 09:28:14 AM
I've just noticed that my next workshop is fast approaching and its not a whole day job.

This coming Saturday I will be trundling my way to Ilminster for my inchies workshop (https://www.themeetinghouse.org.uk/workshop/2039) and then in the afternoon I will be bootling over to Barrington court to the excellent Quilting Emporia there, taking the 100 Shades quilt with me which is still causing me problems with the backing fabric.

I have found a couple of spot on fabrics but they are costing out at £70 plus!!!  ... I really need to find an extra wide to keep the cost down and  do remember the BC Emporia had a very good range of fabrics.

Why am I telling you all this  ???? because if you would like to join me, give me some advice, have a natter over coffee and cake at BC's excellent tearoom I would be delighted to see you.

@LeilaMay  ... Would you be free that afternoon Darling ???
I have almost (and hopefully by then I will have) finished the Wedding quilt so have lots of greens and blues for you!

Well todays the day .... I will be hitting Barrington patchwork after 1.30 I imagine so if any one does fancy a meet up, do come along and help me choose the backing fabric for the 100 shades

Have a great day, @Iminei .  Although I would be useless in helping you pick any fabrics, I hope you have fun xx

Awwwwwwww Twopence ... will you be going for the day? or on your way to/from a holiday ?

Well the course was FAB and I really, after the usual moans and groans (why did I forget my ruler, cutting mat, a decent light and not bring a good positionable glue rather than pritt stick, I really must get myself more organised for workshops) enjoyed myself AND produced something with the limited (Yeah Right!) stuff I did manage to take.

The tutor bought boxes and boxes of stuff for peeps to choose from and I bought the lil plastic bag Ive been stuffing scraps in, in the hope of someone ever wanting them or they coming in useful and finally they did!! WooHoo!!!

So altho' Im not fabulously pleased with the results but for a first time effort and without decent glue, light etc (Boy my hands were a mess by the end) I am pleased to show my first attempt at Inchies (dont look too close at the sizing I had to use scissors to cut them so they might not be as exact as they would have been with my full kit available)

Im continuing with these as Im going to attach them to a proper backing and finish the one that has no decoration somehow.

And on the Barrington Patchwork front, I have found a fabric for the 100 shades quilt ...
its an Andover fabric s one and came in under £50 for 5 and a half metres, I'll have to join it, probably with some coloured detail echoing the front, down the midline

After BP, I wandered into the village which was holding its yearly Barrington day, open gardens, cake, tea, wine, stalls selling everything from plants, books, junk and some delicious glass ware by a very talented young lady whose mum lived in the village, I couldnt resist and bought a bluebird!

Those look good @Iminei what will you do with them? What suggestions did the tutor give for finished inchies? I might have a go if there are some good ideas  -<

Frame them I imagine ?!?

The tutor bought loads of bits and bobs but was strongly paper based plus leaves etc I was completely fabric focused.
Some of the inchies being made were amazing .. Obvs they had thought as to what they wanted to do unlike moi.

What a lovely day, @Iminei .  Love your inchies, the backing fabric AND the bluebird.

I go to a lot of workshops, classes and sewing days and I find it impossible to take everything I need.  :\

@Iminei we’ll stop there on the way home for our lunch and to have a good look around as we’ll not be in a hurry to get home and only have ourselves to please.

I'm glad you had a great time! And I'm sorry I didn't see this - we had been talking by PM (I have the forum set to send me PM notifications even if I've not logged on) and I didn't realise you'd moved the conversation. I am sorry.
I'm glad you found something to do the job you wanted, and hope you enjoyed the day.

Love  x

Imei, sounds lovely. I also forget stuff for my monthly craft club meeting. So I had a crashingly obvious lightbulb moment. Write a checklist, and put it inside my craft box for the day!

Sounds like you had a terrific day. I love your inchies though they are way to intricate a thing for me to try...I'll just appreciate yours instead! The birdie is so sweet...so nice he has a home with you.
