Title: No Swimming in this!
Post by: Sandra on February 03, 2018, 20:57:17 PM
Just found this while I was browsing vintage patterns and it amused me.

There's not a lot to the top part. I wonder if anyone was brave enough to get it wet?

Sandra.

When I was at school a friend crocheted a bikini in Domestic Science lessons.  I don't know whether she ever wore it -  :o - although I do remember that she lined it with cotton fabric, which is something!

Should be warm for down on the beach anyway...

Years ago when I was machine knitting a lot, I knitted a bikini using a textured cotton mix yarn that knitted up a bit like towelling. I did actually wear it, although as a non-swimmer it wasn't really put to the test.

When I was in my late teens/early twenties (and not having to deal with the effects of gravity) I had a crocheted bikini in light blue colour which I wore weekly for swimming :o.  Never had any problems with what little there was to it, but when DH tells the daughters they're mortified ><
