Hannah Hauxwell (https://www.tennants.co.uk/discover/news-insights/quilts-from-the-estate-of-hannah-hauxwell/?fbclid=IwAR0cBp1bjS1DBxDbLA4bHCWukoVqsu5TdNH2lqamtthsVECWVvfZnnQcMa0)
Not many, I think maybe three in total and peeps on FB are saying she probably needed them to keep warm during the winters but the auctioneers say they appear unused so make your own mind up ... the quilt with most detail seems to be a stack and whack ???? (apologies if thats wrong) as the motif seems to be the same in each square.

That’s not far from me....it will be interesting to see what they go for.

Oh, that's interesting. They look lovely.
I hadn't realised she only died last year...don't remember reading about it.

Can we enlist you as a spy ... :ninja:
Sadly it will probably not reflect their worth.
Last year I went to a textiles auction (Dukes in Dorchester) and there was a first prize winning group quilt from 2006/7 for sale. Not to my taste but beautifully made and it went for £50!!!
I think the HH name might add some value and a local museum might bid for one.

Funny that this should come up as I was talking about HH only the other day with a friend. I wasn't aware that she had only just passed away or relatively recently.

The tv programmes about this remarkable lady are available on youtube, if anyone wishes to watch them again or didn't see them originally.
-
If anyone is interested this (https://bid.tennants.co.uk/m/search/?key=hannah+hauxwell&search-area=on&xclosed=no) is what they went for.

Some interesting items there...nice to see pretty much everything sold for more than the estimate.

I saw on Facebook that 13 of the quilts were bought by the Antiques Textile Company. He says he'll keep the quilts safe for as many people to enjoy for many generations to come and plans to eventually donate them to a local museum in North East England.
I'm not sure if the following links to the Facebook posts will work for everyone - you might have to be on Facebook to see them:

£1500 for a strippy quilt. Wow.
