The traditional remedy for getting a spot of blood out was to chew on a piece of cotton and then rub it with the saliva. It has to be saliva from the same person as the blood came from.

If it's polyester/cotton it should withstand getting a bit wet fairly well - too much might cause a watermark of course. I would repeat the Vanish treatment little and often until the stain is gone. If it does leave a watermark, this won't be as noticeable as the blood stain.

Try dampening a cotton bud with saliva as a neater 'tool' - it really works.

I have heard that baby wipes work very well on something like this, though I haven't tried it myself. You can actually get baby wipes that aren't perfumed.
