Do you know how hard it is to buy a pin cushion? Round here it is anyway. I like a nice stable, heavy, won't-move-when-I-wildly-stab-a-pin-in-it type.
Pic 1 - A nice little tea light holder, a couple of bits of sponge foam and a curtain fabric sample, that will work. Hot glue to stick it together I thought.
Pic 2 - Hmm, so hot glue sticks to neither velvet nor stone. Tried another glue, no good.
Pic 3 - Then I thought of superglue, yes!! One neat, stylish, heavy pin cushion :)

The stone tealight is from The Range.
Imi, you could make your own so easily, the tealight is from The Range, the foam circles were actually packing out of tubs of dog treat tablets, and my velvet was just a curtain fabric sample that happened to be on the table and just big enough. I cut a circle the diameter and depth of the foam, hand sewed a couple of rows of stitches around to gather it, then stuck it in. Simples!
If I had another tealight I'd make you one, but it's a 25 mile round trip to my nearest Range shop.

Great idea - I'm going to copy it, if you don't mind. I'm fed up of having pincushions which constantly jump away as soon as my hand goes anywhere near them. :angry:

I make them from a teacup and saucer ( vintage ) The cushion is in the cup and if you superglue the cup to the saucer you get stability and a place for errant pins in transit :D
Must try the tealight variety :)

I thought of doing that too, but we chucked out all t'other half's mother's old teasets. What a great idea to glue the saucer on.

They really look very effective... and they are fit for purpose too. Just got to watch out that you don't superglue your fingers together :o

I also wondered about craaash, tinkle, tinkle with the tea cups 0_0 I looked for something that I thought wouldn't break too easily - but there is a chance it may break your toe...

The stone tealight is from The Range.
Oh! There's a Range just down the road (10 miles maybe but the first 7 of those is just getting off the peninsula and applies to anywhere I go). Must remember to look out for them next time I'm there.

That's such a great idea. I rarely use a pin cushion because I don't like it it rolling around. (I use a magnetic dish I bought at a hardware store.)
You can also stuff some steel wool to keep the pins & needles sharpened :D
