Thank you.  Yes the HD9 is probably a good option.  I will look into this one. :)

Sewing Machines / Brother f420
« on: September 09, 2021, 16:51:29 PM »
I have seen this sewing machine for sale at my local craft shop.  It is an ex demo machine on sale for £545.

At the moment I have a Janome QXL 605.  I do love this machine, but find it is not happy sewing sewing things like denim or big projects like a wool coat.

Would the Brother be a good companion to the Janome?

Overlockers & Coverstitchers / Re: Bargain Jaguar 489 Overlocker
« on: December 28, 2019, 17:09:54 PM »
I very nearly bought one of these.  They are a bargain.  I think Jaguar were originally made by Frister  Rossmann.

I have the FR Knitlock overlocker, used regularly for the last 9 years.  In November this year it was not stitching very well.  I decided as it had never been serviced, I would get it done.  I bought the machine from David Drummond in Edinburgh.  With his machines he promises a free courier service (obviously not a free service), to Edinburgh, for the lifetime of the machine. At the time I was very impressed with this offer, as I live in the Midlands.   I contacted him to find out the cost of a service.  I was very surprised when he quoted £150 plus parts if needed.  We then had a discussion whether or not it was worth servicing taking in to account the £150 cost.  I was on the verge of buying the new overlocker, but at the last minute decided to sleep on it.

The following day I mentioned to an acquaintance my dilemma.  She recommended a machine repair service not too far away.  The cost was £60, I got the machine back a few days later and it is running like new.

A Good Yarn / Re: Crochet - should I?

I agree try  Bella Coco on YouTube she is brilliant.  I have really enjoyed watching her tutorials, and managed to crochet two lovely granny squares.  They are quite large, we use them as throws.

Ah! I see.  They have probably all seen the light and come over and joined us, on the lovely TSP.  ;)

Fun with Fabric / Re: An interesting look, maybe

I have this pattern, I am looking forward to trying it.  I have several Itch to Stitch Patterns, love them all.  I have just ordered this fabric and beginning to wonder if it will be too lightweight.

Fingers crossed this link works. I have not figured out how to link, using one word :(

I have recently been given these needles by a friend.  She thought they were domestic sewing machine needles, after she discovered them in some jumble she had been given.

When I looked I found they were in fact for an industrial overlocker.  They are a box of 100 labeled Schmetz 135x8 TRI.  If anybody would like them, you are very welcome.  Just would like cost of postage.

Yes it is yours if you would like it.

I have for sale a centre foot guide, which can also be used as a clear foot.  I have used it only once.  Jaycotts retail is £24.50.  I would like £15.00 plus postage.

I also have a tape binder12-42mm, again this has been used only once.  This retails at £89.50, I would like £65.00 plus postage.

Yes please.

Is this still for sale?

I have recently made the Itch to Stitch Chai dress.  Came out really well and not too many adjustments.  I would definitely recommend this pattern.  I do plan at least one more.
