In the wardrobe / Re: Hems on knit fabrics.
« on: January 01, 2019, 14:48:17 PM »
What they said  :)
As you are using stretch stitch, it could be the volume of thread going through the fabric is forcing the fibres apart making it wavey.
Try tissue underneath, not for twin needle or you won't be able to get the bits out afterwards.
If all else fails,  strips of water soluble embroidery backing, placed top and bottom of the hem and tack near to where you will sew. Rinse away afterwards.

I'm going to have to finish at least one garment a day if I'm to stash bust.
First up is a white poplin shirt, If I can lay my hands on the fabric.

Glad to see there are a lot of different techniques, makes me feel less quirky, each to their own.  <3

A Good Yarn / How do you hold your knitting needles?
« on: December 20, 2018, 18:01:13 PM »
I hold my right knitting needle for underneath. Is this unusual? I can't find an videos of anyone doing the same  :S
It comes natural, but now I wonder if I'm awkward

All my fabric counts as stash, as I have been really good and making up the newer acquisitions as soon as I buy them.
Do I get extra points if my fabric goes back to 1918?  >:)

...and I have about 20 UFOs

Sewing Machines / Re: I do not want to Machine embroider
« on: December 13, 2018, 18:49:06 PM »
@Celia, haven't we discussed this many moons ago in another universe.
If your still feeling the same way then you should sell your machines and move on. I gave up machine knitting about 25 years ago, yuk, just wasn't what I wanted to do, so sold everything. Even though it's a hobby I have gone back to, I have never regretted that decision.

I'm fattered that you used my idea @Manuela.

I will need the stash busting to stay open until at least 2020  ;)

try a new skill
I spent some time this year and found it quite difficult to find out what was going on so maybe a time table locked thread and a general chat thread.
