Title: Fabric suggestion for trousers
Post by: snoozi soozi on September 05, 2019, 10:50:17 AM
I want to make up my fave TnT trousers in a black drapey fabric.

The pattern is Sew Me Something Portia which I've made in various linen/cotton mix, lightweight cotton, heavy cotton and I'd like to try something like a viscose mix for a 'softer' look, if you get what I mean  :S

I think polyester would be tricky to work with and probably wouldn't hang right. What do you suggest?

Thanks  :)

Polyester crepe might be nice and would hang well.

I was also thinking of some sort of crepe. I like it for trousers.

Thanks @Sara-S @Greybird these trousers have a zip fly and front pockets, do you think crepe will be stable enough to hold up to this?

There's one fabric shop in the next-ish town that I need to visit to see crepe and get a feel of it, I know I've never used it before  :S

I don't see why not, as long as it's a good weight of crepe. I have a couple of pairs and mine both have an invisible zip at the back, but as long as you reinforce the zip area with fusible interfacing it should be OK.
