In the wardrobe / Re: Cross grain jeans?
« on: September 12, 2019, 00:04:29 AM »
(I could be wrong...) Doesn't denim shrink more in the length than width? If you turn it cross grain they could be a tight fit after washing - my jeans are shorter after washing, usually for several washes.
But I would try it :)

This is a really interesting project, like a jigsaw.
Good luck with it 🤞 I hope you'll post progress.

Nice find 👍

@Francesca Thanks for commenting on your experience with them. I've got a couple of theirs on my watch list, keeping them there so I could remember to go back to the seller. I liked their prices. I'll have another think now :)

I went back thinking about a monthly sub but then I saw the gifting options so bought that for my sister instead. It doesn't recur! I am so bad at cancelling in time so this satisfied both my want to subscribe and my fear of recurring costs.  :P

@Bodgeitandscarper A life changing decision to be sure  :P

I'm beginning to play with various feet more after having great success with this button foot and the rolled hem foot... I watched a video about cording during the most recent Bluprint freebie week and immediately ordered one. Gotta love the internet, shows us candy and we buy it ... luckily it's sugar free   :D

0_0 @Vezelay ... there was a time I might have read these descriptions. Now I've discovered my button foot is not just a funny looking little thing I think I'll pass.

Oh yeah! Horray for the button foot. 👍  I don't know how many items waited for buttons, or for how long they waited, before I discovered this little marvel.

It's great to have a go to pattern for trousers. My makes no longer fit and I'm working up the courage to make the adjustments my waistline is demanding  :P

They sound fabulous, I love the thought of houndstooth check pants. What kind of leg are you doing?
I made a plaid pair once upon a time (also a faced waist, back zip) and gave them a little flare. I  loved them but no way fit in them anymore LOL ... I wonder what I did with that pattern???

@Helen M I've done a trouser (Burda Style magazine, Marlene pattern I think) with a zip in the back seam, and I was able to move it to the side seam in another pair. It was just applied in the seam allowances, but you would have to make changes to the waistband.
I could look out the instructions if interested.

How to remove a coverstitch seam the easy way
... in case anyone needs to remove their coverstitching. My leftmost needle was being lazy about sewing so I had to do a bit of ripping... the first attempt wasn't so pretty

@Ohsewsimple good to know thanks. I've been looking at the fleece selection, thinking about nothing in particular, so if any appeal I should be fairly safe. I keep putting stuff in the shopping cart and so far the postage stays at €5,43. That's fantastic for me.

I received the free pattern but I don't know when I'll print it... all that joining A4 sheets!!! But I do like the shape of the crotch curve, I think that works for me.

Thanks for the heads up @Ohsewsimple. I don't really need another pants pattern but couldn't resist. I was worrying about the size to pick when I read they send a size above and a size below with the size you pick, so that's nice. I've never tried a StyleArc pattern, it'll be a new adventure :)

@Kenora I hadn't known the tiaknightfabrics site, happily their postage to me seems quite good so I'll play with their shopping bag a bit  :P
