Those of you who have been holding your breath waiting for Vogue to do pdf versions of their patterns can finally breathe easy as they have produced 72 of their patterns in pdf formhere

That's the good news. The not so good news is that they are about £20 a pop although I fully expect they will put them into their frequent sales in due course. They are in A0 format (hurray!) but I don't think they have A4 format. No, Vogue, you weren't listening - we want A0 AND A4.

Since they have started doing Butterick and McCalls as pdfs I've bought a few in their sales and they are cheap - £4 or so depending on the offer.  A4 only of course. Don't know why they can't consistently offer A4 and A0 across all their patterns - oh and layers too so we only print the size we want.

Hmm website seems to suggest the patterns are A0 and A4..Not exactly clear....

This is on for the next few days. They don't include the latest dress pattern though. Remember to use the code GET20 as well for a bit more off.

I saw this & I thought you may be interested! / Simplicity.com $4.99 sale
« on: January 16, 2024, 13:42:16 PM »
The US parent site for BMV patterns - www.simplicity.com often has pattern sales. Because postage to the UK is high it's only really worth buying a bunch of Vogue paper patterns when they are on sale. And you have to want the patterns of course!

They don't appear to have any Vogues as pdfs as yet but they have digitised most of the patterns from their other brands. For instance they have McCalls and Simplicity on sale at $4.99 a pop. I've just bought three digital Simplicity patterns working out at £4.09 each which is pretty good value compared to what you pay for digital patterns elsewhere. They are a wee bit awkward to download but the main issue is that they are all in A4 format so not really suitable for whizzing off to a print company. You'd have to print them out and stick them together yourself. I don't mind printing and sticking - have quite often done that. Worth keeping an eye on this site anyway

I saw this & I thought you may be interested! / Jaycotts pattern sale
« on: January 02, 2024, 18:30:02 PM »
Jaycotts have a pattern sale of selected patterns (although quite a wide selection) across all brands until January 8th. Most of the reductions are 50% but some are 75% off. For instance I ordered Vogue 1410 - a Lynn Mizino pattern for £5. Postage is reasonable too.

I saw this & I thought you may be interested! / Style Arc 20% off sale
« on: December 26, 2023, 18:55:33 PM »
Style Arc have a 20% off sale. Use the code GET20 as well and that should give you a total of 36% off.

Style Arc are doing a 50% off one pattern per day. For instance today it's the Loddon trousers ( or pant if you must!). If you buy a pattern use the GET20 discount code as well to knock a bit more off - brings it down to about £4 for the pdf pattern

Patterns Discussion / New Vogue and Simplicity patterns
« on: October 25, 2023, 16:40:19 PM »
The autumn/fall release of patterns is on the US Simplicity site now.
Nothing of interest for me in the Vogue patterns. As usual if you are young, thin and going to a party there's plenty.    Even the Marcy Tilton pattern doesn't appeal as it's for a bog standard kimono and I think everyone who wants a kimono pattern has one by now .

Some of the Simplicity patterns as PDFs may be of interest especially as they are on sale at the moment - works out at about £4.10 each. I bought the Elaine Heigl coat pattern - I think it could be quite nice but it is shown on the website in some horrible fabrics - often the way! I've also got a 1950s coat pattern. The Digital offering from the Simplicity family is so clunky! First of all I had trouble finding my order in my digital patterns section of my account and then downloading the pdfs is often quite difficult for some reason. Also they still only do their pdfs in A4. Oh and Adobe Acrobat decided to update itself  in the middle of the download! Sorry - perhaps this should be in the Rant section.

Publications / Tauko magazine - anyone tried it?
« on: October 20, 2023, 19:14:05 PM »
I've subscribed to the Fibremood mag for a year then concluded that I don't really like tracing patterns. Then I subscribed to the digital Fibremood which is 5 pdfs of your choice 5 times a year with no print mag. However, although there are Fibremood patterns I like, I've run out of wanting to get any more of them. It's also gone up.in price a lot so that's that with Fibremood for now.

The Tauko magazine ( find it here ) offers a digital version which gives you the print mag, the digital mag and the pdfs of all the patterns in that edition. So I've just bought edition number 9 digital and print. I've downloaded the 9 or so patterns - 6 or 7 of which I would make - and the print edition is winging its way to me.  It looks like more of a proper magazine than Fibremood. Also they tell you about the international designers they use and so on. I'm intrigued.

I'll see how I get on but if I like the publication I'll suggest to the owners that they offer a completely digital version for international peeps (it comes from Finland) and then I'd be interested in subscribing. Anyway, I wondered if anyone had tried Tauko and had views on it

These are now available on the US Simplicity site. They have a sale on which ends today - although they always have sales so if you miss one there will be another along soon.

McCalls and Butterick also do their patterns as PDFs now so you would be able to get a Butterick pdf in their sale for about £3.34. I think they might still be only A4 - haven't checked recently - but I have successfully printed and used a Butterick pdf myself. Some Butterick patterns are a bit staid but I liked the asymmetric dress with 3 different fabrics and some of the vintage style patterns are quite fun.

Sewdirect are having a 50% off flash sale over the bank holiday weekend. This seems to be the one time of year when they reliably do a sale on all the brands.

13
Not sure where to post but watch out for a WhatsApp msg promising a free dine in for 2 from M&S. Got this from a friend and sent it so my son who told me it's a scam so don't fill it in. I think probably all that will happen is telemarketing calls that will need to be blocked but best avoided! I should have known better!!

14
I see hat Style Arc are having a 30% off sale on their until July 29th .... for those of you who don't have enough patterns ....

15
Rainbow fabrics have a 48 hour sale of their summer stock at £4.99 pm already started Some fabrics have already sold out...   I may have contributed to that.
