I've decided to use some off-cuts from my daughters Prom dress alteration and make a little outfit from this vintage 1960's sewing pattern.
The pattern is for dolls which are 'Barbie' sized.

Unable to enter this in the ' Look What I've Done With my Scraps' , due to the off-cut pieces being much too large.
I used the lace piece to overlay on the bodice, and the tulle piece for the overskirt. Couldn't find any plain ribbon suitable so used a spotty one.

Without overskirt......

And worn with. :)

Love it... DD collects vintage Barbies, she’s 36!
-
I used this pattern previously to make Views 2 and 5...the red coat and the suit with a shirt and tie (for Ken). The tie was made from a piece of satin bias binding which I cobbled together as best I could.

I also did another version of the dress I've just done in navy.

How super. I don't collect them per se. But I have mine, purchased by Mom the day they arrived in a major Los Angeles toy store. Barbie released on Mar 9, 1959. My fourth birthday was coming up on the 15th that year.
Sandra, those garments are gorgeous. It is so hard to work at that scale. You've done an outstanding job.
-
They’re fantastic, I admire your patience, much better than the original Barbie clothes. I would have loved those for my childhood Barbie. My Aunt used to make all my Barbie clothes.
I too had one of the original Barbies brought over by another Aunt when her husband was stationed here with USAF.
-
They're brilliant! You must have so much patience with those tiny fiddly little pieces. I'm in awe. I made some 16" doll's clothes for my friend's granddaughter the other week and thoroughly enjoyed doing those but they are MUCH bigger pieces than Barbie size!

Barbie released on Mar 9, 1959.
Barbie is rhree days older than me.
I must have had a hard life!
-
@Fajita and like me, did you grow up expecting a body like hers 0_0
-
@Holly Berry I've got a body like hers. Several of them. All enmeshed together for ease :*

Sandra is something of an expert at miniature ....

She won first prize for this quilt!

Amazing, did you hand stitch or machine stitch them?
-
Beautiful and so elegant.
-
Most of it was easy enough to do on the machine. I'm a lazy hand stitcher and avoid it if I can.
I seem to remember the armholes on the shirt...maybe the jacket too... were too small to machine, so had to hand stitch around those.
It's a good job you can't see the insides and how roughly they've been finished off. ><

And....if Barbie or Sindy has a special occasion to attend...

I added the train to this one....Red Carpet events need a train.
This was done from a Simplicity pattern from 1966...the year I was born.

OMG you are kidding me! :o
That's amazing! The scale is perfect!
-
What do you do with them @Sandra do you sell them?
-
No, I don't sell them. I've done these just for the fun of it and they don't take up much room.
Sorry Lowena...you probably shuddered at the thought of hanging on to such things. 0_0 I'm afraid I'm a bit of a hoarder. :|

The dresses look so wonderful on their own little stands. Barbie's Couture Closet!
-
Those are fabulous, Sandra. I've been sewing for young children recently which is a lovely change from all the big dance skirts but getting down to this scale is really fiddly! Your patience has been rewarded with lovely results. :D
