It has been cut out, Imi. It's on the way. :)
something to keep you going between BOM's !
(and Pearl, wheres March ????)
Will it help me stash-bust?
I would love to have a go at this but I'm useless at putting together fabrics, I may have a look around some shopping sites and see what I can come up with before committing
I can't see them, Plosh. Not sure why Pearl - it is there when I click on the link.
Not sure why Pearl - it is there when I click on the link.No I can't see them either... :'(
I've shuffled them around and I think I've found a number 6. I will have another try in a bit.
Catliar
your no 2 and 5 look the same...
they must be different but compliment each other
Also the others 3, 4, and 6 must go darker than each other
Or lighter if your 1 is a dark
Okay Didi, those are beautiful fabrics but using them all together would not look good at all....far too busy.
You need to be able to showcase your favourite patterns with some plainer fabrics.
However all is most definitely not lost.....Choose the two you most like as your feature fabrics 2 and 5....
Then for your background (fabric 1) choose a blender, mottled or batik to tone with either the darkest colour or lightest in your two choices (depending whether you want a light of dark background)
The other two fabrics need to be either a very small (non directional) print or mottled/blender or batik picking up the colours in your two feature fabrics
Looking at them I can see a very contemporary, modern quilt coming out of those...
and you could choose another one of them for the binding....
Your quilt will look spectacular but not by using all of those prints.
( Oh God I've not worked in inches since the 70s!)
you do know that if you click on the first pic, and then the info icon (top right of picture) you get a set of destructions for each pic ?
I agree. I actually thought about every possible option besides black because initially I didn't want to go there but nothing else was right. It has to be black. I think I'm just going to go with what I have. I need to go buy some black now. The piece that's in the photo is just a small piece from the stash. Luckily I have two nice quilt shops in town so that should be easy to sort out today, then it's on to the cutter!Do take your small bit of Black with you ..there are so many shades of black
YD
perhaps I should have gone for a quilt rather than a wall hanging.
Panic not!!!
It is really easy to 'upsize' this pattern...
I did with my first; from a wall hanging to a good sized single
and with the example I am showing you in this tut,
I have added bits to extend the square crib size quilt into a rectangular cot sized quilt!
Not me Lantana... I bought the fabrics specially for this project :| I just hope they go together as I haven't opened the pack from Doughty's which came today :|
One thing I'm not sure about ..... my bg is pale so the ooomph fabric will be dark but does it have to be darker than fabric 5?
ok. got my fabrics with the help of the lovely Kate in our local shop. Now, let's see if I can post a pic.
I'm loving it!
The only slight niggle I have is about your no 2 and I shall explain why.
I tried looking through the ruby beholder
Deafoldbat are you the Brenda of colour queen fame?
No, that's Brenda P. But I can give her a run for her money! :D
Awwww bless {{{ big hug }}}
Clue 2 is out tomorrow Girls!
I've been quietly sewing along here and although up to date I haven't posted any piccies yet as other things have been getting in the way. :[
Clue Number 3 has just been released into the wild, Ladies
Goodyoh ...... there is a sight error in the destructions as the annotations say 6" strips and the photo is showing 5". Then it says cut 6" squares for the next stage. But if they are to end up 41/2" it would seem that they do start off as 5" as per the picture. Just checking before starting. :)I noticed that too and was going to ask the same question, great minds?
L :vintage:
Yes I made her for a friend/work colleague who was having a bad time at work, I thought it might cheer her up. The pattern was in a magazine at the time but I've lost it so can't make another one :(
I've been meaning to ask you Maliw did you make that lovely doll on your avatar? I've got a book on doll making and it's on my 'one of these days' lists which is a long one <whistle>

First post so here goes.
My accuracy needs work, I have little patience and I struggle with contrast v mush in my colour schemes but I'm keen as mustard.
I found this thread yesterday and thought "that might be good fun" so I went off to look at suitable fabrics...and then my head blew up.
Oh my! Isn't it great???? 0_0
Thanks Lantana. I'm a fan of gnomes...just not in the garden. :x
I'm not really sure how to "go" a forum but I'm hoping to get the hang of it.
Concrete teddies Lantana???? Goodness, I've never seen a concrete teddy in a garden...don't s'pose you could post a pic for me???
Tomorrow is the 1st of June, so just 15 days to the next clue... 0_00_0 0_0 0_0 I'm loving this mystery. And in the meantime, we'll have the BOM to keep us busy.
Clue 4 is the end of cutting for fabric 6,
Yep, I've completed the grand total of 2 :ninja:
Panic Not!
I am very sorry about the cock up with Clue 5 and very thankful for the eagle eyed amongst us who noticed so quickly.
We now know that the Colourway of 4 patches needed for CLUE FIVE are 1 and 2 .... and 2 and 5.
.
I'm still confused but I'm just going to go with the flow.
Have things gone off piste at clue 2?
I've checked my 4 patches against clue 2 and I got them correct
16 x fabrics 1 and 2
12 x fabrics 2 and 5
4 x fabrics 1 and 5
So clue 5 had to use fabrics 1 and 2 because it is the only colourway with enough four patches to complete clue 5
I'll use the other 2 combos for clue 6 and see what happens - it all adds to the mystery :)
Too much for my poor brain I'm afraid -<
Did you see what a pig's ear I made of Clue 6? I used to wrong four patches AND put them the wrong way round.
But didn't it look lovely anyway? 0_0
Doh!!!
I should have insisted you all make a key to your colours at the very beginning!
And I should have done so myself!
Next time, will be better! Lessons have been learnt ... however, despite all that, everything I have seen looks wonderful and you will be surprised at how beautifully it all comes together!
Errrmmm @WendyW ... this was run a couple of years ago ... sorry!
Must be nearly time we had another one then. Hm? :)
So, after a while of re-arranging the blocks I am trying to decide how to continue.
I haven't enough blocks for any pattern, so I will have to sew several more anyway. The point is, which way to choose....
That's the original plan...

That's the way, how the last clue instructed it...

But somehow I like that better...

With same corners?

What did you think?
Option 2.
Option 2
I prefer the last two (which are actually the sme I think).
Option 3
I think Sakars referring to The Mystery Quiltalongathon (https://photos.app.goo.gl/J1PNT22sK5ThDBLU9)we had in ??? 2017?
I agree with Brenda and Fajita, options 3 and 4 make the most impact.
Any of your options will look good because your colours are gorgeous.
