Well I never knew you had to have special PJ's (https://thefoldline.com/patterns/1930s-kitchenette-pajamas/) to wear in the kitchen
-
We clearly haven't lived!
-
What! Does that mean there should be different pjs for every room. Just imagine bathroom pjs >< :S
-
Yikes, I've just clicked on the link you virtually have to strip off to go to the loo in them.
-
They are pjs for kitchenettes rather than kitchens so if you have a big kitchen you'll need to wear something different. ;)
-
I don't know why you all think it odd! I not only have pyjamas for each room but of course for each day of the week. I am considering special shopping pyjamas, but I think that's already been done:

Oh my...I wish I'd not looked at that link @Catllar .
-
They are only for the kitchen so you can keep the kitchen cooking smells in you kitchen pyjamas before you change into your lounging pyjamas or your bathroom pyjamas or even your bedroom pyjamas - see?

I think some of those people you can only feel sorry for.
-
I’ve got lounge pants... can I wear those in the kitchen?
-
No only on the lounge @Efemera :D
-
Only Airports and pubs have lounges.
-
So wear your pjs in airports and pubs! 0_0 0_0

Do you have to have a kitchenette to wear these pyjamas???

My mum used to have one of those, but it was green.
Where do you change these pyjamas anyway? Is there a special pyjama changing room, before you change before going into the appropriately named room..... Lounge, Kitchenette, Bathroom, Utility....
I'm still coming to terms with pyjamas being worn to do the weekly shop. :S Walks away shaking head.... :S

It would seem from the penultimate paragraph of this article (https://thevintagetraveler.wordpress.com/2017/11/24/pajamas-from-1930-montgomery-ward/)that kitchenette pajamas are not just for the house - anyone for flower gardening, boating or the beach?
-
Montgomery Ward !!!!!
A lot of the (imo) excellent Stephen King Book 11/22/63 is set within distance of a MW warehouse and I had trouble understanding what MW was ...
Thank you, thank you, thank you SIT xxx

That cupboard thing looks very familiar as does the china therein! I'm a child of the 60s!

My Granny had one of those cupboard thingies - I vaguely remember its arrival mid 1950s. I'm pretty sure though though that she never wore pyjamas anywhere, let alone in the kitchen! PJs were for men.
Kitchen wear then was a cross over apron, rather like this. (https://lilacsandspringtime.blogspot.com/2017/06/nans-1940s-wrap-apron.html) It was worn in other rooms and as far as the garden but never any further.
