I saw this & I thought you may be interested! / Re: Bookmarked
« on: November 05, 2023, 10:24:08 AM »
I signed up to this last night, they asked for names and other details. They also asked what they should call me, so I put Goddess!

I now have an email addressed to Dear Goddess that really made me smile. It’s the little things.

I ordered at about 2.00pm yesterday and the envelope was here when I got back from the gym this morning.

A Good Yarn / Re: Keeping track

I didn’t know about knitcompanion, I will have to have a better look later.

I recently downloaded the app from Tin Can Knits as I had seen one of their patterns on Ravelry that I wanted to make.  It’s very useful, once you have selected your size it displays your specific instructions. It’s amazing how much simpler a knitting pattern looks once all the superfluous info has been removed.

There are links to all sorts of info and tutorials which offer clear instructions for all the basic operations.

@Bodgeitandscarper if you don’t like it you can blame me but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I bought an older Babylock  combo machine, I thinks it’s the Evolve but got fed up swapping between the modes. I bought an Imagine OL as I got a very good deal (pre covid).  My idea was to keep the Eclipse purely as a coverstitch but then I had chance of a second hand BLCS at a very good price and for me this is the best option.

If you have the room for both machines it’s the best way to go IMO.

The Imagine is a superb machine, it’s stitched everything I’ve ever thrown at it. I rarely have to make any adjustments and it gives a lovely stitch every time. I don’t know the name of the latest version, but that’s what I would go for.

I keep thinking I should sell on the Evolve which I kept as backup but am not sure how well the older models sell now.

I'm hoping to make this
https://needleandanchor.com/aphrodite-versa-bag
as part of my DDs Christmas present but am struggling to find a 10" Flex frame in the UK.  I can get small purse sized ones but can only find larger ones in the States.
I've tried flex frames and facile frames as searches but nothings coming up, has anybody any better ideas

In the wardrobe / Re: Waist belt with pockets?

Isn’t it funny that when you are simply browsing the forum, you find a pattern for something you never knew existed but that solves an ongoing problem.  :thumb:

Who knew they are called camp shirts!

I’ve ordered the Wardrobe by Me pattern and will start as soon as I can get it printed and assembled.

Can anyone recommend a simple sock pattern in DK or similar please.

DH has requested bed socks to aid his poor circulation and I need something quick to knit if possible as he has giant feet.

I too am in a knitting mood. I currently have
https://tincanknits.com/pattern/harvest?g=2  On my needles, I think it’s going to be a big thick cardi type of winter. It’s ages since I knit an adult sized garment as it usually scarves or something for the GKs.

DH must be feeling the cold as he has requested bed socks!  He has poor circulation in his feet and loss of sensation in his toes, so keeping them warm will help.

I’m hoping I can get away with some sort of tube socks, in a fairly chunky yarn.  Must go and browse somewhere for a pattern

Patterns Discussion / Pattern for a Hawaiian type shirt

I’m looking for a pattern for a simple Hawaiian type shirt for my SIL.

He is a horror film buff and I have found some hideous fabric with various horror film characters on it, which he will love..

I’m thinking short sleeves, attached collar without a collar stand and no button band so I have a chance of pattern matching.

I’m not a fan of the big four and would prefer a PDF but have very little experience of men’s pattern for wovens.

Such restraint @sewmuchmore , I bet you needed a lie down in a darkened room once you got home.

@Ploshkin  I’ve been an Itch to Stitch fan for ages but never noticed the Bainbridge, it looks very useful. I may have to order it despite supposedly being on a pattern fast, heigh ho!
