Title: I need your help with a bride to be sash

Hi everyone  :drink:

I'm Sarah, fairly new to sewing but really enjoying the few projects I've had a go at!

One of very close friends is getting married in May and I would love to sew her a beautiful sash for her hen do. Something like this:

I'm guessing I would make two seperate pieces then join them together, but how would you join them (it looks like a near invisible seam on both sides would be best?) Also, would it be difficult to add a bias binding edge to the two sides?

Any tips and basic walk-through advice for this project would be really appreciated!

Two pieces of fabric machine stitched almost all the way around with a few inches left open to allow it to be turned then hand stitched together to close.  The one in the piccie has a seam at CB, probably so that width of fabric could be used rather than buying a longer length and wasting putting into stash a considerable size piece of fabric, but it looks to me as though the bit left open and closed by hand was along the side seam at the back.

Bias binding would be tricky with the ends shaped as they are.  It wouldn't be my choice.

Thanks Brenda. So a ladder stitch to close up the ends?

If that's what works for you, yes.  If I'm closing something like that that I just sort of slip stitch it together, then press.  It's not as though the closure needs to be strong.
