Today... One thread per day / Re: Sunday 24th October
« on: Today at 11:04:47 »
So yet another day of gorgeousness weather-wise. Had a bad night Mr C relegated to sleeping in chair again as he couldn't get comfy in bed. Hope this is only a temporary hiccup as we both need sleep.

Went for walk this morning before (sorry) it gets too hot and were out for about 45 minutes, so that is improving daily.  He's now having a snooze in the sun.

Today I have a sweater to block before making it up - that's up there with quilting for me - detest it, but it's worth it for the finish, I suppose.

Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday. :grouphug:

I feel terrible (not really) banging on about this , but, yet agin, glorious morning here. Sun's so bright it hurts and whilst it's a bit cool sleeves not needed and I'm still barefoot outside on the terrace.

Nothing planned today - MrC is nurse-free now, no more sticky needles in his legs, which hopefully will start getting back to normal soon.

When I was at the haridresser last week she announced I had lost a lot of hair, probably due to stress over the past few months so recommended some hair stuff to apply once a week for 3 months along with vitamin, mineral supplements.  I have started this morning but nothing's happened yet - still got a short spikey haircut - no long lusciuos locks down to my shoulders - this stuff obviously doesn't work!

Have a good day all and get rid of those colds - hot toddy for all!

Good morning everyone

I do love learning how to make things.  Just need some purpose I think.

Have a good day everyone

I'm another one who like learninghow to make new things but then - what to do with them? And am I really going to get my money's worth out of all the equipment needed?

Today we have been ver ver busy.  Went to Perpignan and Mr C bought me a new engagement ring! Never really had a proper one and this is just what I think of when I think engagement ring - a single solitaire  diamond in a claw setting of  yellow gold to match my wedding band.

Then we had lunch in one of our favourite restaurants before   buying a new toaster - why do they burn one side and ignore the other after a few years? and some new hair clippers.   Then coffee and cake and a trip to the veg supermarket. Came home and then to physio. Now sitting with feet up and a gin and tonic!

A Good Yarn / Re: Circular Knitting Needle Question

@Ploshkin, I tried pulling the excess cable out the sides as my first rational approach, (didn't know this had a name)  but to be fair it was quicker to do the rows back and forth on the sleeves. Didn't know you could get shorter needles - whole new world!  I'll check that out. Thanks.

This is interesting - although I have knitted for years and used to be a translator for Phildar France I've never tried circular needles until recently when I bought myself a set as I was fed up with my assortment of mismatched straight pins and unable to buy short pins here. Have knitted up the body of a sweater no problem but how the heck can you do sleeves on circular needles - always too much cable to stitches . Is there something I should know?

Also why are you getting needles in your fingers ? I never touch the tips???? I work with the yarn round my left index finger so I don't have to push the stitches off - somehow they just slide off.

That is fab. You could use it as a table topper after the wedding  - I'm not being rude, I really think it would be a shame to hide it away after all that work.  :perfect10:

Good afternoon from a grey but v. mild (18) Catllar.

Been to the hairdresser this morning, only one more appointment left with her before she retires and shuts up shop in December. What shall I do?? First World problem - yep.

I am impressed that so many of you have sewing mojos returned. This is good, so maybe it will cross the water and I can hope for mine back some time soon.

Have a good day and a thought for all those in France who were hit by tornados overnight following storm somebodyorother.

Another glorious utmn day - sunny and still. Warm too . Went to a Cancer Support coffee morning and had a caht with people sitting in a lovely garden drinking coffee and eating cake surrounded by flowers, dogs and a book swap - heaven

.Going dancing this afternoon and will also do the books for the Association - see if we're in trouble

MrC felt well enough to do a barbie for lunch so we had grilled fish, mushrooms and I did some rice (with added butter for him) and green beans. Very tasty and lovely to see him doing his thing with his boy's toy.

Hugs to all needing one  :grouphug:

I ordered my batting from Doughty's and have more than 10UK Pounds shipping  cost for 3 metres of the stuff - Still when it does arrive I could take pleasure in showing it to the numpty in the fabric shop, but I won't!

Good morning all - another lovely day, despite the autumnal look to the sky - the blue is a more golden shade today.

This afternoon I'm planning a visit to the beauty parlour for a facial  - my skin has been really dry recently. Probably stress related , and then have physio later on.

Another beautiful day here in sunny Catllar and another trip to Montpellier to see the kidney lady.  Important things such as lunch have already been booked - priorities are important, after all.

Yesterday met the new family member in England named Rocky, an 8 week golden cocker spaniel - soooooo gorgeous. He introduced himself to me by giving the phone a good licking on the whatsapp video call. Can't wait to see him for real!

Hope you get home today @Silver Rose .

So remind me again - why don't I like quilting? Doesn't it ever end? I can't do more than a block without losing the will to live. Still, 6 out of 9 done.

That's very sensible @Diane . It'll get done eventually.

Another glorious day here with a slight mist on the mountains  - looks kind of ghostly but the sun is warm already.

Might do a bit more FMQ on the BOOM quilt.  Had a better night last night as MrC managed to sleep following our long walk yesterday at the seaside.

I am going to a guitar concert in a local church this evening , should be nice.

Hugs to all in need and hope @Silver Rose had a calm night.
