Ooops, very late to the pass today!!
Great news that you're not ill @Iminei despite feeling grot and coughing  :P
Congratulations @Sara-S and Mr S.

I've been excessively tired the last two days. Yesterday Daughter and grandchildren came and we went out to lunch but I needed a sleep before they came and a night doing nothing after they left! Today I managed till lunchtime and then needed an afternoon nap of two hours as I was so tired. Not sure why as I'm not doing much. I probably need to have vitamin supplements or something  :P

No sewing been done, no h*******k been done, no nuffin really.

Hope you all sleep well. I'm off to bed now.

I would so like to join but the projects I am doing have already been started as I want to hand them over for December 1st and even then I am pushing things. I may enter some smaller items later but will follow with interest.

There is a theory that the sewing machine was designed by two leftys so is inherently lefty friendly!!

Both these items below came from tinterweb so they must be true!!  :P

One theory is that as both Elias Howe and Isaac Singer (the inventors of the sewing machine) were left-handed, they designed their machines to use their less dominant right hand to crank the machine while the left hand did the fine dexterous work. ... 'Left-handed' sewing machine.

Oh gosh, @Renegade Sewist, that sounds awful. Stay safe!

Sunny and mild here today and I went out to breakfast with my sister so a good start to the week. I've also booked my covid booster and flu jab but that isn't till November 12th so no rush there.

I've sewn the hem on son's cropped trousers and am about to start more embroidery but am totally stalled on the coat. I've lost impetus to do it so I've shelved it for a while. I want to enjoy it and not fret about it  so it's best I put it aside for a while.

Hope all the sufferers improve soon and that everyone enjoys the rest of their day.

Cool, grey and dismal today and so is the weather!!  0_0
I've been in my sewing room and have done another embroidery and cut some trousers down to make knee length shorts for my son. On the last pair I did he said he wanted the hem to be 3" below the cargo pockets so I measured carefully, added 1" for the hem & cut both legs at the same time. When I came to sew the hem I noticed it didn't look like 3" so remeasured  :scream: it was only 2". I was bemused how that had happened and started remeasuring only to find the cargo pocket on one side was an inch lower than the other!! He was happy with them anyway.

Music in the pub again this afternoon and we're just having reheated soup as our meal so no cooking for me today

Hope everyone who is feeling under the weather gets well soon. Have a good day, peeps.

I am curious do you have a plan for what to do with the bands, I love making bands but got put off by a friend who is usually very supportive saying, they are nice but what are they for ….. I answered with a belt or guitar strap etc and received a very definite sneer.  Sort off put me off but you are encouraging me again.

But surely sometimes the joy is in the making and the end product is just collateral damage!!! Does it have to be 'for' anything? We watch a film for enjoyment without worrying about an end product so why not just enjoy making something?

Those braids could be for a belt or bag handles or curtain tie backs or they could be used to throttle anyone who sneers at something they can't /won't do!!  :P

I had a day of sewing yesterday morning- well embroidering more Christmas stuff for my grandkids rather than sewing but counts as sewing as I was in my sewing room!!. I got two loads of washing done and dried outside so the domestic side was catered for!!

The Thursday jamming session was excellent and we had three women in from Wales who had the time of their lives singing and even dancing along. I may have imbibed an elegant sufficiency of beer but if I don't admit to it no one will be any the wiser  :P

Yesterday afternoon my sister text to say she was in our pub having a quick half with her husband so I decided to join them - and so did two other couples. We arrived around 3.30pm and I left circa midnight  :| :| Another cracking evening/night

We hadn't seen one of our regular customers for a week or so with the result my hubby called in to see him on Thursday and found he was proper poorly with nothing he ate or drank staying inside him. Yesterday he phoned hubby to ask him to drive him to the medical centre which hubby duly did - and then drove him to the hospital the doctor sent him to as it was quicker than waiting for an ambulance!! He is expected to be in hospital for several days while they do tests and he's linked up to an IV drip. They mentioned something about it being his kidneys, hopefully they will sort him out soon.

Do you remember me mentioning an email I sent to my local library as they had charged me £28 in fines for overdue books during lockdown? Well, I got a response today - almost a year later! The fines have been removed 'at the discretion of the library'. I rarely complain about anything but I'm pleased I did in this instant.

My hubby has been getting text messages from his bank telling him he's overdrawn etc except the account referred to is not his!! He's tried to phone about it and been into the branch but they said they couldn't do anything - well, this morning he got an email with ALL the details of this other bank account - name, address, bank account number in full, balance etc etc. He went straight to the bank and they tried to accuse him of fraud  He is not a happy chappy. He's given them till Monday to sort it out. The bank have obviously made a colossal error and are doing everything not to admit it is their fault. After waiting almost 2 hours to speak to someone on the phone he gave up. Not sure what else he can do but it's a bit frightening that they can make such a mistake.

I'm going to do some more embroidery today. It's grey and much cooler out there so a bit of relaxing time in the sewing room sounds ideal. Hubby is at the brewery so I have the day to myself - think I may give the pub a miss today  :P

Hope you all feel better soon @Sandra & @Iminei & @Bumblebuncher.

Have a good day peeps.

A Good Yarn / Re: SEPTEMBER/ OCTOBER SOCK KNIT ALONG
« on: October 23, 2021, 12:32:45 PM »
Oooh, @Celia that link has rekindled my desire to knit some socks. I really liked the designs on that site.
But I must finish the sock wool I have first - I'm not really in love with it and think that is why I'm having such difficulty getting going. But mustn't waste it......

Bright and sunny here and I should be up and at 'em but I've only managed the 'up' bit!! I have got washing in and I've ironed the Christmas fabric I washed yesterday but I feel a bit lethargic today - I've wasted no end of time on the 'puter this morning - there is so much drivel on You tube and I sometimes watch it amazed at the inanity. Some good stuff on there as well though!!

I'm going to start the embroideries for my grandchildren's Christmas project now I've got the fabric. I've also got a spare red zip up hoody that I'm going to embroider as a Christmas jumper type thing. Last year I made a Christmas waistcoat (patchwork denim, of course!!) but sometimes you need something softer to cuddle up in.

I've just realised it's daughter and son in law's wedding anniversary tomorrow - better nip out and get a card before I go to the pub. It's Thursday so there'll be a jamming session at the pub, usually a good time is had by all - especially me!!

Enjoy your day peeps whatever you are doing.
