For me it needs a border - either white with a dark binding, or possibly even two narrow borders with a tonal contrast in the border binding. It's a lovely quilt.

A Good Yarn / Re: Crochet Hooks
« on: Today at 14:28:19 »
As with most things, I find it's a matter of personal taste. I've been crocheting/knitting for more years than I care to think about but I still use the "old fashioned" grey metal crochet hooks. I've tried plastic/padded/wooden/anything-else-you-can-think-of handles but they just don't feel right - to me. ;) Other people swear by them. I also use KnitPro knitting needles and love them but haven't found a modern equivalent for crochet that I'm happy with. The Pony hooks are a little lightweight, so I still use the Milward ones but I've had them for many years so today's ones may not be so sturdy. I did buy a set of generic hooks from EB** a couple of years ago. They were brightly coloured aluminium - all in larger sizes - and I found they were fine, so I think maybe you need to experiment in order to see what you like. Hope that helps. :)

A warm welcome from me too @Fenella . I only have one  :meow: but would love a houseful.  ;) Looking forward to reading your future posts and hearing what you're making.

Sending warm Happy Birthday wishes to you both from a damp and dismal Cornwall. Hope you're enjoying your day.  :cake: :toast: :flower:

That's a beautiful pattern. What a shame we never get weather cold enough in Cornwall to wear it outdoors, let alone inside!

Very many warm Happy Birthday wishes winging their way to you @justpottering . Hope you're enjoying your day. :toast: :cake: :flower:

Great ideas @Iminei. Thank you. :) All my P&Q work goes to charity so it would have to be something that the charities would want. Maybe tote bags would work if I lined them? They would look very good. Just need to get well enough to sew first.

A happy and healthy New Year to everyone. :VV:

We watched the TV fireworks/light show at midnight last night but all I could think about was how terrified the street animals would be, which rather spoiled it for me. It would be so much better if all that money was spent on domestic charities, both animal and human.

It's bright, breezy and extremely mild here in Cornwall (14c) and the daffs are starting to show yellow buds.

I won't be finishing my quilt any time soon either! I haven't been able to sit at the sewing machine for 3 months now  (due to problems with my spine) so will have to wait until things ease a little for me. Also, there is the fact that I just don't like the look of the final quilt - I like each individual block but don't like them all together - I just need to find a way to fall back in love with it, then I can complete it once I'm able to.  :)

A warm welcome from me too - a bit further West than you in Cornwall. :) I have Bernina's too (modern ones) but I love them.
