Today... One thread per day / Re: Wednesday 8th December
« on: Yesterday at 11:24:14 »
Grey and blustery today again. The weather isn't too good either!! 0_0

I'm off out in a while to have lunch with my two besties. Excited!! Only problem is I have over an hours drive to get there so I hope the roads are clear. I've embroidered them a Christmas card each but my ideas of taking them Christmas coasters didn't materialise. We have agreed no presents this year, just spend time together so that is all good.

Have a good day everyone.

I woke at silly o'clock this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so I got up and did some knitting, then returned to bed and slept till nearly 10.00. I only got up then because my sisters were coming to visit and I needed to get ready.

Had a long chat with sisters and we spent a pleasant time together before they left. Just after they had gone we had a tempest but they both had managed to get home in time. Whilst talking to them about Christmas cards I realised I am meeting two friends for lunch tomorrow and I needed to make them cards so I quickly embroidered two. A bit 'that'll do' but still beats a generic shop bought one for two special friends!!  :P

I also had a zoom meeting with friends this afternoon. We're meeting in person in a fortnight so we kept it short but it was good to chat.

The wind and rain seem to have died down a little here. Hope no one suffers badly from storm Barra.

Have a good evening peeps.

Thankfully I had a better nights sleep so not as tired today but I'm still weary. The weather first thing was atrocious with very cold rain and wind but now it has brightened up and the sun is even shining!!

My water soluble stabiliser from Amazon America arrived this morning so I can crack on with a few more projects now. I didn't realise it was from America till after I'd ordered it - no wonder it wasn't eligible for Prime!!  0_0

I've finally decorated the Christmas tree. I realised I was putting it off because last year I did the tree with Mother and for Mother and I was finding it difficult. I've just chucked things on it and thought "That'll do". Missing Mother today

Last Thursday at the jamming session I decided not to sit but to stand and jig around. Great at the time but ever since my hips have ached - What? Never before have I had problems with my hips. It's making me feel old and I'm too young to be old  :P

Well, I need to tidy up the Christmas decs, put more washing in and perhaps do some sewing. Or knitting. Or reading.

Have a good day peeps.

My sock is now 2" long!! I'm not a speedy knitter so this could take some time  :P
However I got intrigued with the 'jogless join using the helical method' and watched some videos on that (I refer you to my 'Oooh Look, Shiny!!' confession). The chances of me ever doing striped socks (or striped anything!!) other than with striped wool is less than zero but I watched it and thought "I could do that".....  :S  :embarrassed:

Well, I had a super day in Worcester yesterday despite the Victorian Christmas Market which meant the place was heaving!! When we went to catch our train home the queue for the station snaked all the way down the street  :scream: fortunately we discovered that was for the Birmingham bound trains so we were able to access our platform and got the train home no problem.
I then slept like a log until 1.45 and I woke up  :headbang: Grr. I eventually went to sleep again around 5ish but I have felt rubbish all day and even missed going to our music afternoon in the pub I felt so grot (and no, it wasn't drink related for once!! )
I managed another embroidery this morning and did some tidying and sorting in my sewing room but haven't done much at all this afternoon. (Two rows of sock knitting only!!) Christmas tree is still undecorated  :embarrassed:
A lady requested some suitcases on our local Freebie facebook page so I was able to give her two that I was unsure what to do with. They were my in laws cases and were rather surplus to requirements so I'm glad they are out of the way. Nice bit of decluttering there!!  :D
I'm still tired and grouchy so will have an early night and will hopefully sleep through.
Have a good evening everyone.

To me they are two different looks. One is more contrast than the other so you need to decide whether you want to have a contrast look or go more blended.
I'll go against everyone else & say 'grey's.  :D

I remember wearing smock tops and I wasn't even pregnant!! Flared Jeans & thick soled boots completed the look.
Then there was always the tank top over shirt combo. With a knotted scarf round the neck.

Off to Worcester Victorian market tomorrow
I'm in Worcester tomorrow @Bjay but hoping to avoid the Victorian Market!!  Will be avoiding all shops as well. Our tentative route is Plough, Cardinal's Hat, Imperial, Paul Pry (perhaps Cricketers), Arches, Dragon. That'll do nicely  :P

Well, I've cast on for the first sock and done 6 rows.
I was inspired by winwickmum.co.uk on YouTube and then followed her tutorial on her website. It's so long since I knit socks that I'm like a beginner again.
It's not helped by not liking the sock wool I have but I'm too stingy to buy some other when this is ok just not my colours. (The socks are for hubby and he likes the colours so meh  :\)
Don't wait with bated breath, this could take some time.  ><

Mrs Grump here today - I did my usual 'woke too early and didn't go back to sleep' and now I feel evil
I went to the bank this morning to pay some money in and wanted some change for the pub (long story involving incompetent business bank and not being able to change banks until hubby gets his license back from DVLA). Anyway the cashier needed to get the amount I wanted from the vault but it needs two people to do that and the other person was in a meeting. She asked me to go back half an hour later, so a fruitless wander round charity shops, back to the bank to find it still wasn't ready. I wasn't cross with them as I'd sprung it on them but I had nothing to do in town. Fortunately I noticed hubby's van outside our pub so I was able to go and sit in there until I could collect the money. I came back here, had lunch and have whiled away the afternoon on 'puter and knitting. Trying not to nap but will probably fail.

I didn't have to decorate the pub tree after all, Yay!! When I got there the barman's girlfriend, who used to work for us, had done it. She loves Christmas decorating so was happy to do it. She made a much better job of it than I would have done. And the small Christmas tree I had asked for at home? Turned out to be over 6' tall. Le sigh. No, it is not decorated nor is it likely to be this weekend. We're off to Worcester tomorrow for a Red Lion on Tour day so no decorating then. No rush  ><

I need to get a move on with Secret Santa, if I hadn't been so tired and wasted so much time at the bank today I had planned to do some. Next week it is then.

Have a good day everyone.
