What a great way to demo the different weaves! They're all good, looking forward to seeing what your sis chooses.

Update on the linen/viscose from Pound Fabrics: it's been washed & pressed, it's lost a bit of stiffness but will be good for a dress or top. Drapes even better than when it arrived. The muslin - 4m of it - has 2 flaws each running across the width. I'll have to cut round them. It was only £2/m though. After washing it's crinkled up like 1960s cheesecloth, perfect for DH's summer shirts & it won't be ironed.

I agree with @Bodgeitandscarper but I'm not an expert either.

@coffeeandcake we'll have to swap pattern ideas! Pity @realale didn't give in to temptation, we could have had a triplet meet up.

@Acorn this print is 55% linen, I think it might be a bit heavy for a shirt. Have a look at the other linen mixes, I think there's another one which has less linen, that might be a better weight for you. Having said that, it's a loose-ish weave with a nice drape. Once washed it will probably be softer. Will let you know!

I bought a couple of pairs from Dunelm's fabric counter, they were so pretty. Completely useless, I took them back & the woman was a bit indignant but I dug my heels in & insisted on a refund. I'm still using the shears my parents bought me when I was ooh, maybe 16. They have been sharpened a few times! I also have the pinking shears still but I have replaced them. I have some Fiskears ones which came as a bundle with a machine, they're surprisingly good. I've got a rotary cutter but have never got the hang of it.

I've just received a lovely linen/viscose print (John Louden) from Pound Fabrics. £8.75/m which I think is very reasonable. This will be a dress for me. Also 4m of white muslin at £2/m to make a couple of summer shirts for DH. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

No sewing here until the decorating is finished. I have ordered fabric though - does that count?

Your bags are great. My grands would love the Paw Patrol fabric too. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with walking trousers. Will you use a commercial pattern or copy a favourite pair? A good opportunity to design the pockets exactly how you want them.
