Thank you Ploshy, I'm going to do a tote bag next I think. Then I hope to do a small quilt using KANTHA quilting

Thank you so much girls. It isn't difficult or I wouldn't be able to do it  :D However it is fiddly ( quite a bit of unpicking  :| ) I really enjoyed doing it and will definitely do more. I'm thinking of making a small quilt using Kantha quilting next

When I made or altered curtains ( many moons ago when funds were tight ) I always did it like Veggie said  :)

I have finished my Sashiko cushion but the forum will not accept it as an attachment ( don't know why, no different from usual ) it says the bytes are exhausted..poor things!

I used thin indigo linen ( traditional ) a stylised flower pattern ( traditional ) and perle threads.

Thanks to Imi you can now see it  :)

Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / Sashiko cushion
« on: June 18, 2017, 13:51:09 PM »
I have finished my Sashiko cushion and wanted to share as it is my first attempt.
I used thin linen in indigo and a traditional flower pattern.I had cotton backing and perle thread.
I actually used several pastel colours but they don't show up on the photo. The colour changes are very subtle.
For a first attempt I am pleased with the result  :)

Thanks Lilian, I had read it but not retained it  :D and I'm very bad at being bothered to take  photos  :|
I'm hoping to finish mine today and I'll post a pic on here, even though I'm ineligible to enter the competition.

The Haberdashery / Re: how to organise needles?
« on: June 17, 2017, 13:22:39 PM »
As I only ever use one type / size of needle, it doesn't arise. However, I do change the needle for each project and throw the used one away  :ninja:

Thanks girls  :) I can see you're right Brenda I was hoping to avoid white ( or a significant amount of any one "background" colour ) but it looks like I'll have to have a rethink  -<
Well done Vege, that's lovely  <3
I wondered if I could get away with squares from lots of fabrics ( my remaining fqs ) but it would seem not. I knew, really that I would need a unifying factor but was hopeful of getting away with it  :|

My first 2 offerings to Project Linus UK are to be a Disappearing 9 patch quilt and a 1/2 Log Cabin quilt, both using up fat quarters I already have.
The LC will be fine as it's strips and small squares, my query is about the DNP.
Is it better to use yardage and have all the 9 patch blocks the same? If each 9 patch block was made up of different fabrics would it just look a mess?
It's difficult to tell on Pinterest, but they mostly seem to use restricted fabrics  -<
I don't want to use sashing as the quilt will not be very big
Thank you  :ninja:

Your mix looks fine to me, a good variety of tones and colours  :)
I often do 60" x 54" for lap quilts, so 60" x 60" would not be an unusual size.
I'm sure it'll look lovely, very fresh and summery  <3
