That's a beautiful pattern. What a shame we never get weather cold enough in Cornwall to wear it outdoors, let alone inside!

Great ideas @Iminei. Thank you. :) All my P&Q work goes to charity so it would have to be something that the charities would want. Maybe tote bags would work if I lined them? They would look very good. Just need to get well enough to sew first.

A happy and healthy New Year to everyone. :VV:

We watched the TV fireworks/light show at midnight last night but all I could think about was how terrified the street animals would be, which rather spoiled it for me. It would be so much better if all that money was spent on domestic charities, both animal and human.

It's bright, breezy and extremely mild here in Cornwall (14c) and the daffs are starting to show yellow buds.

I won't be finishing my quilt any time soon either! I haven't been able to sit at the sewing machine for 3 months now  (due to problems with my spine) so will have to wait until things ease a little for me. Also, there is the fact that I just don't like the look of the final quilt - I like each individual block but don't like them all together - I just need to find a way to fall back in love with it, then I can complete it once I'm able to.  :)

Hi, I'm new... / Re: Hello from Devon

A warm welcome from me too - a bit further West than you in Cornwall. :) I have Bernina's too (modern ones) but I love them.

Welcome from me too. :)

Mine never worked well with the threads that Janome supplied with it, so I ditched them and used them for hand tacking. Instead, I use Gutermann Sew All in the needles and either Madeira Aeroflock or Superior Threads Polyarn in the looper. This combination has been the most reliable for me, with no skipped stitches or other problems. :)

2021 BOM Mystery Quiltalongathon / Re: Block 4 - The SAPPHIRE Star
« on: October 03, 2021, 16:12:54 PM »
Eventually knuckled down to finishing my Sapphire blocks this afternoon. I'm not particularly happy with them - I don't like the thickness where the FG and SiS join, but they'll look OK once they're all quilted. The centre square IS actually a blue batik but in the photo it looks a murky grey. :\

Onwards and upwards to Block 5 for me. ;)

@Flobear - I'm in the stragglers group too!  :P I'm still struggling with the Sapphire block (I think - at least mine's sapphire) - I'm not keen on the thickness I get when I join the flying geese with the square in a square. I think that's why I rarely make this kind of block. -<

@Iminei - your pieced top is very eye-catching, and I love the little cornerstones.  :loveit:

A Good Yarn / Re: Circular Knitting Needle Question
« on: October 01, 2021, 11:27:12 AM »
I have sets of Knitpro metal interchangeable needles - can't remember their proper name, but I never have any problem with the yarn catching at the joins. I think you have to make sure that the cable and needles are screwed together really, really tightly using the little tool that's supplied for the job. :) Hope you have success in your search for the perfect needles!
