That pattern is amazing. Did you see @Missie’s crochet project she posted about recently? That was a beautiful one too.

A Good Yarn / Re: Anyone used Drops Alpaca?
« on: November 24, 2023, 07:25:59 AM »
Thank you for the information on alpaca @Ploshkin. Very interesting. I have used a few types of Drops yarns, some good, some not so much. I was after some yarn for a shawl. Really wish I could manage a cardigan but fitting issues abound. Went all around the houses in my search and ended up with a different brand. Decided against an alpaca blend.

I can tell by the sound of the machine when the bobbin runs out usually. I guess I was choosing to ignore it. Serves me right!

There was actual sewing from me. I am not usually available for the weekly clubs. I put together most of a bra fitting band which includes the cups, essentially a bra toile. I am following a YouTube tutorial but still managed to make a few errors. I was rather miffed that I had stitched one cup to the band only to find I had no bobbin thread the whole time. Will I never learn?  -<

I was just about to suggest the same pattern. Let us know how you get on with it. I have been considering that one too in fleece.

Patterns Discussion / Re: Maison Fauve

I like the look of the Sable jacket, kimono-ish but with set-in sleeves instead of cut-on which do nothing for my figure.

Sewing Machines / Re: Getting on my own nerves!

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could order a custom-made machine with all the features we want and eliminating the things we don’t need? I suppose that could work for anything, even spouses.

Well, I tried and failed to understand most of the information on the Lilypa site.  :sorry: I have the Basic Bra from Pin-up Girls which I toiled five times years ago using Beverly Johnson’s Crafsty course. Despite following her measuring instructions, I think I had bought the wrong size range. I now have the Marlborough by Orange Lingerie. I had my eye on that one originally but it didn’t have enough of a cup size range. It does now. I will add this to the growing list of autumn/winter projects.  I still have my box of bra making bits.

In the wardrobe / Re: Viscose Twill

I agree. Some viscose fabrics, however the weave is described, turn out to be quite thin and drapey which is fine for a top. Also, many wrinkle like the devil.

Hi, I'm new... / Re: Hi everyone

Welcome, @Retrorokit. I looked up the Wendy Dolan book on Amazon.  :embarrassed: Turns out, I own it along with one of Jan Beaney’s books - The Art of the Needle. I do have aspirations but they are well beyond my capabilities right now. Something to explore when I retire though. Looking forward to seeing your creations and reading about your exploits.

I was looking up bra patterns this morning. I will take a look at this site. Belated thank you @Morgan.
