Our power has just come back on - it went off at midnight.  They initially told us it would be off until 4pm, then until 8pm, then until midday tomorrow...  :scream: ... but we went out to get some supplies and when we got back at 5pm it was back on.

I haven't restarted my desktop yet, so I don't know how bad the wind was, but it was pretty noisy, and we had hail at one point as well.

And has she at least got a bucket and spade?   :o

I've been working on my quilt. I fell out of love with it earlier in the week and couldn't get going on it but it's beginning to look better now I've added more bits to it. I wasn't happy with one block so I embroidered a different one this morning and I feel better about it now.

I had a phase like that with my table runner - nothing seemed to be going in straight - but redoing a few bits seems to have transformed it.

I've also been converting my embroidery pattern wishlist into a buying list... not all of it though, because it's got very long over the years!

The curtain hooks have arrived and I've put them in and pulled up the header tape.  I'll put it up as soon as Lingo finishes...  :sorry:

I have finished the second curtain, but can't put it up because I've ordered some nice metal hooks (we have had a lot of plastic hooks get brittle, and these are heavy curtains), which should have arrived on Wednesday, and are now (allegedly) out for delivery this afternoon.  I'll have to swap the hooks in the other curtain over then too.

I have also sandwiched my Christmas table runner, but haven't a clue how to quilt it at the moment.  I'll probably just do some shadow quilting, but I'm going to end up with soooo many ends to deal with.

Ooh yes - I've just looked at them.   :S  They could definitely do with improving their layout!!  There's another one whose name I cant remember that has lovely designs, but the site is so bad that I can never cope with ordering them.

Embroidery Library has looked the same for the past 5 years, and according to their website they created Urban Threads as an offshoot (but still part of the same company) back in 2008, so they have presumably always shared the same site software.

I've never quite managed to come to terms with the fact that Jimmy Perez is supposed to be tall, thin and dark, but I do like Dougie Henshall, so I try!

They're sister companies - Urban Threads has stuff that's a bit more edgy, where Embroidery Library is more mainstream.  I didn't think they duplicated stuff though.

That is really lovely @Diane - and amazing for a first project using the method.  I watched an FPP demo on Sewing Street this morning and it did look like a very satisfying thing to do...

I watched the previous 5 episodes of Shetland on Catch up this week and actually remembered to see the final last night. There seemed way too many storylines floating around and I had actually forgotten about the original moiderrrrrrrrrrr
We found this too @Bumblebuncher - we've watched every episode but spent last night saying 'Who's Logan?'  'Who's Gauldie?'  (I had to look those names up to quote them here!)

@Lowena I say he'll be back.  Mainly because they've apparently started filming series 7 and Dougie Henshall is in it!  I hate it when a series ends with that sort of cliffhanger though.

I have cut and pinned my second curtain, and it's all ready for sewing.  I'm off our for lunch with the boyfriend in a little while though, so the sewing will have to wait.  I might manage to sandwich my Christmas table runner before I go though.

I saw this & I thought you may be interested! / Embroidery Library 70% off

Embroidery Library have 70% off everything until Monday - this includes design packs, although where there was already an everyday discount this is instead, not as well!!  There are also various free gifts if you spend certain amounts.

In addition, Urban Threads have 60% off everything and free gifts.

:faints:  I may be gone for some time...

Wonderful!  I think it definitely looks best with a consistent background - they wouldn't look as though they were all playing together with different backgrounds.

Congratulations @Lowena - I'm sure you won't miss it other than in a good way.

I have done one of the curtains!  All finished, hung and pulled up.  It's the perfect length, so I just hope that the header tape doesn't sag any more quickly than the new carpet flattens!!  Actually, I've never seen header tape less likely to sag!  Excellent quality from John Lewis.

I really am not an expert, but viscose was the first thing that sprang to my mind.

A lot of local authorities did this sort of thing at household waste sites to reduce the numbers of people there at any one time during coronavirus.  Ours had a system where odd numbered registrations were allowed in on some days and even numbers on others, but I'm glad to say that's stopped now.
