Patterns Discussion / Re: Oh dear Vogue!
« on: June 12, 2020, 12:18:20 PM »
Thanks for the information @UttaRetch.

The fabric looks like a very thick, heavy sateen fabric (maybe even heavily bonded too). That would explain some of the issues with the finished item. I'm surprised to see it (like everyone else) tbh, from a Company like Vogue.

The pictures aren't that great either. Not up to their usual standard?

Is this something made up for the magazine themselves or is it something made up by the vogue pattern makers themselves?  Do you have a link to the page where you saw it please? I can't quite work it out as it looks like its from a magazine article perhaps?

Thanks for your kind comments, I haven't made much with stretch, this was really a first  :o  :)

It really suits you so much and such a good fit too. I love the fabric.

@Kenora

That's good to hear you are happy with your new machine and all the accessories. Perfect wether for staying in and having  more time on the coverpro.  ;)

@Kenora

I'm so glad you have your coverpro now and have made some lovely tops on it already. I've never had any issues with my coverpro, although I know I haven't used it very much. I think it is just a matter of getting used to the machine and the different settings. Bear with it,  because once you've got to know it a bit better you'll find its a good machine to have.

I've seen this just now.

https://craftingarainbow.com/2020/05/13/testing-the-muna-and-broad-willandra-pants/

Dated 13th May 2020 and the writer says the pattern came out about a week ago, probably that's why there isn't much information yet on the made up pattern.

Oh! Just seen this sew along youtube for the pants pattern too.

Also, seen this too. Has lots of people commenting.

The Haberdashery / Re: Fantastic Elastic
« on: May 13, 2020, 10:08:53 AM »
@sewmuchmore

I think this is what the Fantasic Elastic you refer to is.

40% polyester (dacron) + 60% rubber knitted elastic.

Elastic can be woven or knitted and its the knitted version you are looking for. I think, that you can cut some knitted elastic fabrics in the way you mention but in order to obtain the exact same as Fantatic elastic you will need to find a knitted fabric made of the above content.

Not sure if you have seen this link but it gives a bit more information on the elastic.

Technical Help / Re: static on sewing machine
« on: April 21, 2020, 16:29:26 PM »
Some ideas on here perhaps?

https://www.hometalk.com/34572570/q-how-do-i-rid-my-sewing-area-of-static-electricity

I favour the humidifier solution. I noticed today my hair felt a bit static and thats never happened to me here in the UK before only when I have been on holiday somewhere like Cyprus etc where it was extremely hot and dry.

Hope you find something that works.

The Haberdashery / Re: What are these Kai scissors?
« on: April 14, 2020, 20:24:07 PM »
Faux chenille (stitch and slash) and reverse applique is used in normal sewing though? I have a cutter which isn't too great so those scissors would be an asset especially for the faux chenille. You can incorporate both techniques in garments.
