I saw this & I thought you may be interested! / Sew Direct
« on: November 24, 2022, 16:49:38 PM »
Are having a half price sale this week featuring different pattern companies each day (NL yesterday, McCalls today) with a final all patterns selection at the weekend.

I've had my eye on this one, which I couldn't get from US.
No doubt I will find something else to make the postage worthwhile, and then definitely a moritorium on fabric and patterns[/b] in 2023 (except M&M quinn trousers. https://merchantandmills.com/uk/the-quinn-pdf)
The printed version takes 3 months to become available,  just in time for Spring/Summer.
Think I'd better unsubscribe everything :D

I managed no chocolate for a year. What's my problem?

Patterns Discussion / Re: PDF Patterns
« on: October 28, 2022, 20:14:22 PM »
I will not buy pdfs again, unless I know how many pp there are, Sewmuchmore. I felt cheated when a pattern I bought was 4 pp had loads of space left on the page. Makes it difficult as I've seen the perfect cardigan pattern, I hate dropped shoulder pattern.

Indeed Ouryve, I'm sure it wouldn't have broken the bank to find a spindle, which would have added another item of interest from textile history and development of the English language.

All things textiles, starting in a field of flax, the programme takes you through the process of making it into fabric, in Blackburn, Lancashire. (A Beatles reference, but I digress)

There’s also archive film from 50s of linen manufacturing, Filey gansies knitted on 5 needles, a sock knitting machine, (I want one), dyeing and spinning linen on a wheel, (not advisable) not a spindle.

Catch on iplayer.

Patterns Discussion / Another Vogue Pattern Sale
« on: October 07, 2022, 13:26:13 PM »
Unbelievably Vogue half price pattern sale till the endish of the month. 29th Oct if I remember correctly.

I've never known a Vogue sale to be so soon after the last in UK.

I resisted last time, but will treat myself on this occasion.

Next year will be a definite no pattern no fabric resolution. I managed it with chocolate.....

Having another peruse, finished garment measurements - bust, hip, waist, are now on the pattern envelope. YEAH. Its the first time I’ve seen this on modern big 4, so hopefully they will follow suit with the other patterns in the stable.

Just need simplicity and Burda to give a description of the pattern ……..

Here they are.
I'm surprised to see an 80's pattern and there are some interesting shapes,  but luckily nothing screaming grab me, grab me.
But on third thoughts the shorter version is better.

Patterns Discussion / Re: Do you know of a pattern for this?
« on: August 10, 2022, 09:06:27 AM »
Thank you for this link ohsewsimple. I have a number of my dad’s shirts from the ‘60’s, good quality cotton so not to be thrown so I wear them around the house as they are huge and cool in summer. Now I can adapt some to wear outdoors and look stylish. There’s still a lot of wear left in them and I can use up leftover fabric for the binding. Two savers in one. YEAH.
Off to get rooting.

Here's the link.

They have given me inspiration to amend patterns I currently have, this (I've even got the double gauze); and this, but this, is a little cutie. I think there must be something wrong with me.  :scream: I don't usually look at the children's patterns. I must be a sucker for collars.

This is the first one I have seen for a long while, but for two hours only??? Seems a bit limited, especially as the last time I went the sale was over a few days and and few hours each day, and there were queues. Unless it is in a larger venue.   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

In the event that the attachment doesn't appear,  details are

« on: January 22, 2022, 16:02:43 PM »
Hi all
New patterns are here (lookbook)
https://somethingdelightful.com/vogue-patterns-lookbook/
Or here (individual patterns and info)
https://www.somethingdelightful.com/vogue-patterns/new-sewing-patterns/spring/

I have my eye on this.
But I am wondering why it hasn't been made up/modelled.
