In the wardrobe / Re: Weird fabric

I was going to suggest Microtex as that often solves many problems.
What about holding the fabric taut front and back as it goes through the machine.
Definitely weird.

I know you say there isn’t a lot of difference in this fabric compared to others you have used but it wouldn’t take a lot just to make them a bit tighter.  I’d be inclined to cut another pair and make them wider if you have enough fabric.

I think like @jintie it may be because there is less stretch.  You can test it against the last top to see!
Annoying isn’t it?   You think you’ve got the pattern just right and then you use something different and It messes you right up.

What a great piece.
I know what you mean about the Hong Kong finish.  I did it on a linen jacket and made the binding first.  I was so glad to get to the end! :)

@Missie my mum used to do that too.  We didn’t have a lot of money either.

Same old, same old.  Nothing remotely interesting.

Of course you will, why wouldn't you? If you enjoy cruising go for it.

@Catllar well there is talk of people over a certain age not being allowed to cruise.  DH is over 70 although probably fitter than me.  But I guess they could stop your insurance from covering you!  Twice we’ve had people taken off the ship.  I later found out that the last one died!

They look great @Vezelay and the fabrics are really interesting.  Great use for them.  Given me some ideas actually.  :)

Great idea. I don’t think I’ve got any soap but my mum uses it!

Nice one @Gernella i hadn’t thought of maybe needing a new machine.   Well in  these times it may not be wise to have them serviced just in case they aren’t sanitised before being returned.  A new one would be much safer all boxed up!     Of course I always had my machines serviced and repaired for free whilst working.  I would never have got away with using something not right.  Different now!  :(

Service, what's that <3

That’s what you do if you don’t want your bearings and cogs to go in your expensive machines @Gernella     0_0   I know you’ve heard of it.  :)

Quite honestly I think that’s what it needs then.  If you’ve exhausted all other options.  I can’t think of anything else to try.  It’s at this point I would have admitted defeat and handed it over to the engineer.   :)Sometimes it just all needs putting back to where it all should be.  There's a huge difference once they’re serviced.

When was it last serviced?

Mmmm weird!
Things that I would try are using a different brand of needle,  try a sew sample on a simple cotton rather than a thick fabric.  Use the same thread top and bottom.  Make sure tension  is at normal setting.  And I’d do a zig zag stitch test on the widest one.

I’m assuming you have tried turning it off and on?   :)
