I'll bet he's bodged an industrial needle in there and is using a bigger motor. Dunno how the belt isn't slipping though. That must be under tremendous strain.

I'll have to check that actually. I discovered afterwards that it did that with an 80 needle  :S

@Iminei  :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

I do the same test with every machine @Diane
Obviously I don't jump straight in at the deep end and just lump 18 layers at them, but 1 layer at a time to see what they're capable of. When the juddering starts I stop. Bernina themselves claimed the machine could go through 10mm of fabric. This way, I don't have any excuse for trying to sew something which breaks a needle or a part. The Bernettes first job was to sew a twin line of stitches on my cargo shorts and the needle broke pretty much straight away, after Burt juddered quite viciously. Haven't done that again!

I agree ... and boy am I envious of the Barbieernina wardrobe ...

@Bill If you kill damage THIS one ... we WILL be after you ... You HAVE been warned!!!

Relax woman! There was only that stupid atelier that brought out the screwdrivers. Bernie is safe. Trust me on this  :D

In other news, I've been playing with Bernie. Can anyone say strong? This thing is on steroids!

That is 18 layers of pressed denim. Damn near half an inch thick and she didn't even blink an eyelid.  :faints:

When the sewing space was upstairs @HenriettaMaria I did indeed have the drawers to the left but I also had the extra table to the left as well. Unfortunately the wheeled trolly won't fit under the table so I'll have to figure something out there. It's all backwards at the mo and it's annoying me...specially when I go to get something from the drawers and they're not where they're supposed to be!

For Sale, Wanted & Free to a good home / Bernette B77 SOLD
« on: February 13, 2024, 16:56:09 PM »
As you all know, I've upgraded. So Burt needs a new home.
You'll also know that Burt is the first machine I've owned that hasn't tried every last one of my nerves. It really is that good. It's been really well looked after an apart from the buttonhole foot which be finicky on some fabrics, does everything well. The only thing wrong, is that one of the two small spool covers flew off one day and hasn't been seen since.
Burt was brand spanking new last June so isn't even all that old.
I'm asking £300 ish. It's in the box now and ready to go.
UPS will charge about @£15 for delivery but if you choose insurance the price rockets to about £60  :faints:
Up to you.

Here she is, all settled in and warming up. She was freezing when ups dropped her off.
I'm not sure where the Bernina wardrobe will take up residence but most likely in front of the lamp.
Absolutely love how thin the freearm is and that super long fabric guide is brill.
So far, I've had the bobbin in and out so I can do that. I've taken a foot off and back on so I can do that and I've had the stitch plate off and back on so I can do that too. I'm getting there!

I can hear you all now. "Oh god he's at it again!"
Pics later I promise.
Today I have put the second (hopefully last) coat of paint in my new sewing corner. The rest of the living room will follow shortly but I wanted this area done first. Why not! Calamities today include losing my balance and ploughing head first into the newly painted wall. Luckily no one else saw it, or my face.
Just waiting for the paint to dry and then I'll get Bernie into her new place. Sorry @Ouryve , I've pinched your berninas name for mine too  :D
I'll have to find some sewing inspired pictures for the wall as it's a wee bit boring looking.
