Right i think what i'm going to do is do this purchase in two parts.
I know what Horn cabinet i want and that is the Super Q, it has good leg room and i like the storage, it will work well for me, i know that it will take the larger machines if i choose to go down that road.  I'll order the insert for the Janome 4700 QDC that i currently have and then i can spend between now and my birthday in July to work out what machine i want.

I've done a google search and there are a couple of sewing machine shops near me but they have a limited selection, i think it will have to be a trip to World of Sewing in tonbridge wells. Now next week DH has a week off  :devil: maybe a road trip will be planned.

@sewmuchmore That makes sense, thankyou for explaining.

@Ohsewsimple I think your right, I'll check out what sewing machine shops i have near me and book in to find out more about the machines.

@Lowena For me i'm not worried about justifying it, I've done this all my life, justifying every purchase and i'm now at a point in my life where i don't have to and i feel like having a splurge on me. It's just having it there to use when i fancy doing so.

What a dilemma  :faints: With an embroidery machine, can you add an embroidery to say a purse, something small, how does it fit in the hoop? More research needed on my part i think, it feels like a minefield.

@Bodgeitandscarper
I thought it would be easier and make more sense to have a combined machine. I think i definately need to go and try this machine out before i commit and see what it's like swapping from embroidery to sewing.

Thanks @sewmuchmore I'll have a look at all of this and generate myself a list. You say you find it a bit faffy for sewing? is it not very good? Makes me wonder if i should go to a shop and try one out before i commit.

 :scream: How much, and it's only a tiny square. I made my own pressing mat using a breadboard

@Diane   what a lovely OH you have.

He is a sweetie, he knows what a tough time i've had this last 2 years, what with losing my sister so suddenly, covid, furlough, job loss and all affecting my mental health. I feel that i'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now that i have my job, just need to settle into a routine now and i'm sure the sewjo will return. I just imagine myself sitting at the Horn super Q table with a new sewing/embroidery machine gazing out on to the back garden with the sun shining through the lounge window :meditate:

@Gernella  Yes Miss  :laughing: I find as you get older you get tighter with money, all we do is save save save, DH said it's all about a fine balance and you can't go through life just saving all the time and not treating yourself on the odd occasion. I think i'll make my purchases through Frank Nutt, he has both on his website, i'll ring first and ask how longer wait it is for the table.
