Sewing Spaces and Furniture / Re: Sewing Spaces
« on: March 13, 2017, 13:37:28 PM »
Morgan, you really do not want to see my sewing space - it's  a tip!
This also goes for me, except I'm not willing to inflict a pic of my space on me, let alone anyone else! It's bad enough living with it. I don't really have a space as such but areas all over the place with stashed fabric and haberdashery in assorted boxes and drawers (and bags stuffed behind the sofa  ><).  :(

At the moment I'm in a long war of attrition with my OH as to why we need to have a major reorganisation. I know it'll be a nightmare (that's both in doing it and living with him/me while it's happening) but it would be so worth it.

Hello again, Lollipop!

We need you on the dance board which is gradually populating. I need to post myself but I've been distracted this last week or so and just getting down to sewing again.

We had a lot of non-uk dance folk and they are going to take longer to find us.

So it's a few hours work (that I promise I will get round to!)
I've changed my theme to Curve, as suggested, which has helped too so that's fine for now and I know you'll get around to it when you've dealt with much more essential stuff. In the main, it's aesthetics rather than function.

Thank you.  :)

Well done Madame Cholet! My charity bookseller visits hadn't had any success yet so I'm delighted you found it.

I noticed that some were engraved with the name 'Blizzard' so had a quick search for that. I found this and thought it couldn't be right but looking at some of the end shapes it might possibly be.

The Show Must Go On / Re: Sewing black.
« on: March 12, 2017, 03:13:55 AM »
... but the downside is the sun is blinding in my face.

Now you're not going to get sympathy that way!

I know exactly what you mean and I've just got another daylight lamp for my birthday (after heavy hinting - if you can call an email with links to all the desired objects on the sellers' pages a hint). So now I've two on my sewing table and one on my side table for hand sewing (the floor lamp is too yellow and can't find a daylight bulb to fit it).

The daylight bulbs seem to make black on black clearer than anything else - although I've sometimes taken it to my DD's to sit and do it in her conservatory - no worries about being blinded in Northamptonshire!  -<

Thank you for the advice, Mr I. I'll definitely give that a go and see what I get.  :)

That's working nicely, thank you...and I get your quirky emoticons too!   :| :pin:

Hi Lantana, well that was a good way to pass through the storm unscathed - like sleeping through a massive traffic jam.  |O

I saw you on SGR too of course but nice to have a UK foothold again, isn't it?  :D

Hello shadykittykat, even if I'm a bit late.  :|

Have you been having fun with your new machine? Us mums have our uses, don't we?! I didn't buy my daughter a sewing machine (she's not got that particular bug and I have spare machines there anyway) but we did give her lots of woodworking and expensive lino-cutting tools for her birthday last week. Each to his own, I know which I prefer!   :sew: :pin: :vintage:

Hello and welcome from me Snippet. I'm a bit behind on the welcome trail, but better late than never!

The posts are gathering speed already, even after such a short time, and the fresh start has already given people the opportunity to do things a little differently. I expect we'll see many more innovations as time goes on too. If you have any thoughts, you can add to the suggestions topic.

Hi Emma
I'm late to the welcoming party, I'm afraid, but glad to see you're here. Hope all's going well with the presentation and interview and look forward to seeing you back here soon.  :D

Hello Missie
I've been neglecting my welcoming duties with all that's going on so 'Welcome aboard!'  :)

We've been leaving breadcrumbs through messages, other forums and sites so it's lovely to see people walking up the gangplank each day.

Hello from me too, Nattywoo!

I love the idea that you'll post more to use all the icons... It's amazing how quickly this new forum has taken on a life of its own, wonderful to see and be part of so don't be a stranger!

Hello from me too.

Your name has sent me off on a reverie of Cary Grant charging through fields of cotton to the tune of Summertime while being strafed with jet propelled shuttles! Just a spot of over-dramatic hysteria, nothing to worry about.  ;)

A somewhat belated welcome from me too.

Waste all your sewing time on browsing? My word you've got us sussed sharpish!  ><
