I had no idea, it seems to be a big secret as I can't find any reference to them even on the Schmetz website itself!
There's not a huge range but here (https://ironingpresscompany.com/products/Schmetz-Sewing-Machine-Needles/Household/) they are on the Ironing Press Company website who also have a good range of Schmetz needles including the illusive Schmetz Superstretch (labelled just as HAxISP). I'm very happy with the Organ superstretch which I can get locally and about 50p cheaper so I'll stick with those but it's good to know the Schmetz ones are available somewhere here.
The scissors seem a reasonable price so if I hadn't just got some Ginghers I would have given them a try to see if they live up to their brand name.

Do the superstretch work better than normal stretch on lycra Marnie?
-
Yes they do, @Lollipop. I use them in all my machines, overlockers & coverstitch included.
The attached info sheet gives some insight into the differences and they certainly last noticeably longer due to the chrome coating - they've even survived the odd pin collision without damage.

Pinking shears with such a good name and excellent reviews for £19.95!!!! :o The reviews seem to be for all the things the site sells, lumped in together, which is a pain, but they are all very good.
-
I’ve been thinking about some pinking shears, perhaps I ought to investigate these.
Only in the interests of research for you lot of course ;)
Just looked and the price for those boxes of 100 needles is very good.

Thanks for this, I have recently been looking for some pinking shears, but was put off buying because they seem so expensive for something I would only use occasionally. I've ordered these Schmetz ones and will report back in due course!
-
Thanks @Marniesews very helpful :D
-
Can't fault them for service, my Schmetz pinking shears have just arrived! Only ordered them on Sunday. They are very sturdy, and look great. Haven't had opportunity to test them on fabric yet.
-
Mine have arrived as well. Off to cut fabric purely in the name of research :D

@Marniesews
Thanks for the information as I always seem to have a problem buying any of the more specialised Schmetz needles.

Just tried my pinking shears, nice action and lovely and sharp.
I was surprised to see they have a very pretty convex/concave blade. So scoops and curves rather than the usual zig-zag.
-
Yes, it's a scallop pattern rather than a zig zag. Not sure if that will be as effective for seam finishing? The proof of the pudding will be in the eating, I guess.
