In the wardrobe / Re: Vogue 9230 - 21 pattern pieces...

That's a lot, will be interesting to see if all are essential. I cut out a pattern yesterday that included a piece for a strip of interfacing to go along the front of it! Needless to say I just skipped to cutting the piece up against the other pattern piece and cursed that I didn't read what it was before went to the trouble of cutting out the piece neatly from the tissue!

Overlockers & Coverstitchers / Re: Machine recommendations.
« on: September 22, 2017, 17:31:08 PM »
I have the Elna 664 and I really love it. I really only use the overlocking on it so can't comment on anything but that. It is very easy to thread and I've had mine for a few years and touch wood never had any bother with it. I do make a lot of leggings and stretch items with it but would use a twin needle on my regular machine to hem the items or occasional use the three step zigzag if I'm in a hurry and don't want to switch needle.

I'd love to hear how you get on with this. Have you made a roman blind before? I could do with one but don't know whether to find a workshop or day course before trying it or just get a kit and take my time with it.

Yay thank you for all the help. I tried it out this morning with one of the on sale ones and it worked no bother.

If you don't already know it, do check what filetype your machine uses.  I downloaded a lot of .hus files before my machine was delivered - luckily all free ones - which were useless, because although .hus are Husqvarna files, they're for different Husqvarna machines to mine!

I have a topaz so I think that is the VP3 format.

As long as you choose the right file for your machine (mine is .vp3 for Husqvarna Viking) you can download it and transfer it using your usb stick with no problems.   :)

I had an incredible amount of trouble getting the software installed - and I am very computer literate.  I had no response at all from Husqvarna. The dealer who supplied my machine was of some help.

After all that I haven't used the provided software much at all.  I think its main value is in letting you view the embroidery on your computer.

Thank you so much for all the help. I have a Viking too and cannot find the disk. It was installed on the home PC but himself did some sort of rebooting thing and it's not there anymore (after I had painstakingly added all my threads to it as well). I've lost track of how many times I have emailed them looking to see how to replace it.

I'm very excited to try a few new designs now.

I'm having trouble finding the software that cam with my machine and am getting no where with emailing them. If I down load a design from Urban threads will I be able to just transfer it to my machine by loading it onto the USB key or will I need to have the software on my PC?

Thanks for sharing this. I hope I have ordered the three month trial! I possibly should have asked my friend that is Dutch to help me make sure my address is in correctly but fingers crossed I haven't made a mess of it.

He's so cute! I always find the stuffing settles after a little bit and no longer seems so full so always err on the side of too much.

I don't use mine for quilting I use it mostly for cutting shapes for making neckpieces. I find amazon and the sissix site good.

Oh must check out that site. I made a denim skirt recently with some flower detail from an built in design in my machine but would love something like maybe a dragonfly or peacock to put on some dark purple denim I have in the stash

Lyn-J I have a husqvarna viking machine.

Thanks for all the help. I definitely want to steer clear of the illegal ones and just use a reputable source so I will stick to buying the Disney patches and buttons to add to her things.
